Ch 174: Apple Pie Thief

"What? You are going out again?"

The next morning, Ace can't help but be incredulous after seeing Lin Ye getting dressed and ready to leave.

"Yeah, I wasn't hurt at all, just a bit tired. Now I'm good to go," Lin Ye tries to reassure him.

ACE was stunned by what he had just heard, but when he thought about it, what Lin Ye said made sense. He nods, "Fine. Just be careful. Do you need me to come with you?"

"But I'm not an Infected, so it shouldn't matter."

"That's true, but why do you still want to go out right now? Aren't you scared at all?"

Lin Ye sighs, "I am, but it's because of that that I want to go."

"What do you mean?" ACE can't understand his reasoning.

"I mean, I'm still too weak, so, I want to be stronger, better." Lin Ye says, "If you were there last night, you wouldn't have embarrassed yourself as I did."

"We aren't the same." ACE is a little speechless. "You're a doctor, a psychologist. You're not a combat specialist like me. What do you need that much power for?"

"To save me, of course."

ACE is stunned by what he just heard, but when he thinks about it, what Lin Ye said makes sense. He nods "Fine. Just be careful. Do you need me to come with you?"

"No need."

Half an hour later, in the cafe downstairs...

"Hey, boss!" A certain energetic girl waves at Lin Ye, "Long time no see."

Lin Ye turns around and sees a red-haired girl that was smiling brightly at him, with a blinding halo hovering over her head.

"I was really surprised when you asked me out so suddenly.", Exusiai sits down opposite Lin Ye. When she sees the dessert on the table, she perks up, "Wow, apple pie! Can you order one for me as well, please?"

"This one is for you." Lin Ye pushed the plate to her, "If that's not enough, you can order more."

"Wow! Boss, you're really generous!", Exusiai takes a slice of the apple pie and munches on it, "I'm not holding back then."

Lin Ye nods. Then, he points at her halo, "Can you turn that off first?"

"I would if I could,", Exusiai mumbles, "But I can't."

"Fine."

"Boss, what do you want to tell me?", Exusiai asks, "We aren't that familiar with each other, so is this for business? Ha, I told you hiring me was the best decision you could've ever made."

Lin Ye nods, "There is something I need your help with."

"Sure, let's hear it."

"You're from Penguin Logistics, right? Can you buy something for me?"

"What do you want?"

Lin Ye looks around and makes sure no one was eavesdropping on the conversation before taking his silver python out.

Even though Skadi had inspired him to master dual wielding, Lin Ye didn't think he could accomplish much in only ten seconds with dual-wielding. His race placed a hefty restriction on just how far he can push his limits, so there wasn't much he could do to make the Wave Leaping Strike last longer. After some serious consideration, he decided that guns were just easier to use. At least, they were easier than those fancy moves.

Unfortunately, guns were very difficult to obtain in this world. They weren't something he could buy even with money. Just look at the LGD for example, Lungmen had tons of money, but there were hardly any guns in the LGD.

On the other hand, Exusiai had so many guns!

That's why Lin Ye had asked her out.

Exusiai picks up the silver python and plays with it for a bit. She sets it back down with a soft sigh, "It's very nice. So, what do you want me to buy for you? Bullets?'

"Of course, but there's another thing I need your help with...", Lin Ye coughs and lowers his voice, "If possible, could you buy another gun for me?"

"Huh?" Exusiai stares at him in surprise, "A new gun? What are you talking about?"

"Uh, you can't?"

"Wait." Exusiai tilts her head, "Aren't you a doctor? Why do you need guns?

"Ahem, I need them, because I'm a doctor."

"Eh, that I don't understand. Are you planning to shoot your patients?"

"What are you talking about? It's for self-defense."

"But you already have a gun."

"Yeah," Lin Ye says, "But there's not enough firepower."

"That is enough for self-defense." Exusiai asks, "Just how many enemies do you have?"

Lin Ye thinks for a moment and says, "A lot." He waves dismissively, "You won't understand. A lot of people want me dead."

"Then, why do you need to buy guns? Just hire me instead." Exusiai takes the opportunity to advertise herself, "You don't even have to do anything yourself."

"..."

Exusiai returns the gun to Lin Ye, "If that's what you need my help for, there's nothing I can do."

"Why? Don't you have a lot of guns?" Lin Ye says, "You ate my apple pie, so why can't you help me?!"

The angel thinks for a moment and says, "Let me spit the pie out for you then."
