After treating the injured, the group was confronted with another problem, that is, how they were going to get back to Rhodes Island. All the cars had been destroyed. El had tried to fix the sedan that had been destroyed by the red-haired giant, but gave up after half an hour of fruitless struggle, after finding that too many core components were destroyed.

Of course, the group had considered walking back, but... the abandoned factory was so far away from Lungmen that it would take days if they go back on foot.

Ace thinks for a moment, at a loss at what to do, "We have too many wounded personnel to be able to walk all the way back, not to mention Ifrit's still unconscious." He then takes his phone out and says, "Rest here for a minute, I'll call Kal'tsit. Maybe she can send some backup."

Lin Ye nods and heads back to find Skadi, but suddenly, a big hand grabs his shoulder, stopping him in his tracks. He turns around and sees ACE, who looks really serious for some reason.

Lin Ye nods and turns around to go find Skadi, but is suddenly stopped by a big hand grabbing his shoulder. He turns back and sees Ace, who had a really serious look on his face for some reason.

"Hm?", Lin Ye pauses, "Why? My injuries are already treated."

Ace falls silent for a moment, "Ifrit's flames are very contagious."

Lin Ye pauses again.

Ace says, "Dr. Silence took some preventive measures to stop something like that from happening, and she was the one that took care of your injuries, so it's unlikely that you'll be infected. By the way, I heard that pure humans can't be infected with oripathy, but I'm not sure if that's really true."

Realizing that it was possible for him to become infected, Lin Ye's chest tightened subconsciously, but when he sees Skadi resting nearby with her eyes closed, he takes a few deep breaths to calm himself down.

Skadi opens her eyes after hearing footsteps approaching her. She turns her head and sees Lin Ye.

Lin Ye says, "We're stuck here."

"Um."

"Ace is calling Kal'tsit for backup, so we're going to wait here for now." Lin Ye asks, "Are you coming back with us?"

"Um."

"... why do you only say one word?"

"Are you in a bad mood?"

Lin Ye pauses, "What, uh, no, I'm not in a bad mood at all." He jokingly says, "I feel great. I thought I was going to die, but that didn't happen. Why would I be in a bad mood?"

"Really?"

"Um." Lin Ye falls silent. After a moment of silence, he asks, "How did you know?"

"It's obvious to me."

"Uh... I thought I hid it well." Lin Ye rubs his face, "But don't worry. I can deal with it."

"Um."

Her curt answer makes him smile. For some reason, he feels much better after only a short conversation.

Skadi takes off her wide-brimmed hat, and her grayish white hair cascades down her back like a curtain.

"What are you doing?"

"It's uncomfortable." Skadi says, "I feel sticky."

"Then you shouldn't have been so violent."

"The degree of violence is irrelevant in battle, what matters is how effective your fighting style is." Skadi takes a bottle of water from her backpack and hands it to him, "Help me."

"Uh, help you do what?"

"Help me wash."

"What?"

"My hair."

"Oh, ok.", Lin Ye opens the bottle. When he's just about to pour the water on her, he pauses, "Wait, no, you're still wearing clothes."

"You want me to take them off?"

"Uh, that's not what I meant." He coughs awkwardly, "I mean-"

"It doesn't matter."

"Doesn't matter?"

Skadi sighs softly, "Why are you so slow? I'll do it myself then."

When she tries to take the bottle from him, Lin Ye holds it back, "That's so wasteful. We don't have that much water. Why don't you wait until we go back first?"

"No."

"Why not?" Lin Ye asks, "Don't you always go back to Rhodes Island to wash by yourself?"

"It's different now."

"How is it different?"

Skadi glances at him, "I was alone."

After a brief moment of stalemate, Lin Ye relents.

A few hours later, a large van parks itself in front of the factory. The driver's side window lowers and reveals a black-haired woman with a cold expression.

"Rhodes Island? Hop on." She says slowly, "Penguin Logistics. Texas."
