Lin Ye couldn't tell if it really was Skadi. His sight was darkening despite his best efforts to stay awake.

It's only after Skadi pulls off his gas mask that he could see her clearly.

Her scent wafts into his nostrils, reassuring him.

"Why are you here?", Lin Ye weakly asks.

"If you had answered your phone, you wouldn't have ended up like this.", Skadi pours a potion onto Lin Ye's wounds, which quickly starts to close.

Lin Ye's mind was clearer now. He looks around and saw parts of his enemies scattered around. He didn't even see what had happened to them.

Suddenly, he heard the trampling of feet.

Lin Ye looked up and saw a group of terrorists pouring out of the stairway he had come out of. Among them, there were several red-haired giants and armored guards similar to the ones he had faced before.

"Fuck!", El curses, "Where are these guys coming from?!"

Silence didn't say anything, but her expression turned grim nonetheless.

However, Skadi was still nonchalantly facing away from the group of terrorists while treating Lin Ye's injuries, as if they weren't even there.

Lin Ye can't help but try to warn her, "Skadi, behin-"

"Quiet.", Skadi softly cuts him off, "I have something important to tell you."

"What's more important than this. They-"

"You hung up on me three times."

"Huh?", Lin Ye pauses, "That's what's important?!"

"Yes, I'm not joking.", Skadi finishes tying the knots of the bandages and stands up. She looks down at him, "I don't normally call anyone, but when I do, it's when I have important things to tell them. So when I call you, you must answer your phone."

Lin Ye glances behind her and sees the group of terrorists steadily closing in, their blades and chainsaws only a few meters away now.

"I'll answer it next time, alright?!", he shouts in frustration, "I beg you, please deal with them first!"

Skadi continues speaking at a slow pace, unperturbed.

"If this happens again-"

Then she whirls into action.

When the terrorists were less than five meters away, Skadi pulls her greatsword out and swings it in a somewhat casual manner. However, the attack eliminates the entire group of enemies. The heads of the terrorists roll onto the floor, while blood gushes out of the headless bodies.

"..."

Lin Ye is speechless. When Skadi turns around to look at him again, he subconsciously gulps. He squeezes out a smile, "Tru-trust me. I'll definitely answer your call next time."

"Um, that's good.", Skadi returns to her usual listless look after hearing Lin Ye's promise.

Just as Lin Ye begins to sigh in relief, he suddenly remembers something. "There-"

"I know." Skadi glances at the upper floor and says nonchalantly, "Such a pitiful disguise. Have some shame."

Lin Ye suddenly felt the air get wetter and damper. He thought he could even smell salt.

Is, is that what the sea smells like?

Lin Ye stares at Skadi, as she turns around to face the threat.

The most powerful fighter said to be on par with the Sarkaz's sword saint, Skadi usually appeared lethargic, even her speech is slow. However, at this very moment, her presence was suffocating

*Kacha*

The floor starts to crack like a spider web, with Skadi in the center. Small pieces of stones break away from the floor and float up before being crushed by her immense pressure.

There were also the sounds of tidal waves, but unlike what Lin Ye hears when he uses the Wave Leaping Strike, her waves were more fearsome, more overwhelming, almost bottomless... As a bystander, he felt hopeless in front of her waves.

Faust lowers his crossbow.

"Faust!"

Mephisto taps his staff on the floor furiously, "Why didn't you attack?"

"It's pointless." Faust says softly, "She saw through my camouflage. But even without that, if she's here, we can't win."

Mephisto frowns, "That woman? Who is she? You know her?"

"Um." Faust glances at Skadi and says, "I heard about her from the mercenaries. She's the best of them, and she came from the abyss."

"The abyss?" Faust pauses, "Shouldn't she be fighting those monsters? Why is she here?"

Faust shakes his head, "I don't know."

Mephisto suddenly speaks, his face the slightest bit pensive, "Speaking of which, those idiots from Rhine Labs, did they hire her before coming to us?"

"I don't know."

"That has to be the case." Mephisto looks at Skadi again and sighs, "It seems we can't take that kid away now. What a shame."

Faust asks, "So we're just going to leave? After everything that's happened, we're just going let it go?"

"We already accomplished the task Onee-san gave us. As for that kid, I only wanted to give her to Onee-san as a gift." Mephisto shrugs, "Welp, maybe things will work out next time. Let's go, Faust."

Faust asks, "Are you going to leave our people behind?"

Mephisto stops in his tracks and says without turning around, "Faust, there's bound to be sacrificed on the way to greatness."

Faust nods, "I understand."

Mephisto turns around and smiles softly, "But we won't let their sacrifice go to waste. Remember that abyss hunter. If she tries to stop us again, Onee-san will chop her head off and throw it back into the sea, along with everyone else that tries to stand against us."
