Lin Yie stares at Skadi in surprise, "Why are you here?"

Skadi says, "Didn't you hire me?"

"Does that mean you've accepted my offer?"

"I have no reason to turn it down," Skadi says, "But you have to convince the others first. Kal'tsit doesn't want me involved in things other than fighting, and I'm sure she will think it's ridiculous that you would want to hire me."

"It's fine," Lin Yie waves dismissively, "I'm going to human resources right now. If Kal'tsit doesn't agree, I'll talk to her myself."

Skadi blocks the door with her arm.

"Are you always this reckless?" Skadi sighs, "There are still things to consider, right?"

Lin Yie raises an eyebrow, "Like what?"

Skadi is not wearing Lin Yie's clothes. She's wearing a western-style shawl and a blue wide-brimmed hat. Most of her impeccable face was covered up by her hat, but she took it off before talking to Lin Yie. Her smooth grayish-white hair hangs down like a curtain.

"I heard humans tend to be reckless at night, and that they would regret their actions in the morning," Skadi says, "Like approaching a very dangerous person."

"You mean yourself?"

Skadi doesn't answer him. Instead, she just says, "You should read my files first."

"I don't need you to remind me. I will do that anyway," Lin Yie emphasizes his words, "You are right in that I didn't put much thought into my decision last night, but I don't regret it, and I still want to invite you to join my clinic. If you think last night's invitation doesn't count, then I will just invite you again."

Skadi sighs softly.

"So stubborn," Skadi says, "Even if I join, I won't be here every day."

"It's fine."

Skadi lowers her arm, "If you want to oppose Rhodes Island, then so be it."

Before Lin Yie steps out of his office, Skadi adds, "I thought your place would be very relaxing. I guess I was wrong."

Lin Yie turns back to look at her.

"Just think of it as my monologue," Skadi says, "Compared to my usual work, this seems rather childish, but it might be interesting. Are you a swordsman as well?"

Lin Yie glances at the black sword strapped on his waist and says, "I'm just a beginner."

"Really?"

Suddenly, she swings her sword at Lin Yie.

She's too fast. Before Lin Yie can react, a flash of black, and her blade is already resting on his shoulder.

Lin Yie can feel a chill run down his spine. Just like last night, he couldn't even react.

"You need to work on your skills," Skadi says, "Your race may have limited your growth, but you're still far from your limit."

Lin Yie stands still, but he's not as nervous as he was last night.

"I told you I'm still a beginner."

"Who's your teacher?"

"Yato."

"Yato? That name sounds familiar," Skadi pulls her sword back and leans on it again, "If you can convince Kal'tsit, as payment, I will teach you sword fighting techniques."

After saying that, Skadi leaves first.

Lin Yie pauses, "Are you leaving?"

"I rarely stay in Rhodes Island," Skadi says, "Even when I come back, I'm here to rest. That's why I said hiring me is your loss."

Skadi turns to the door. For a brief moment, the corners of her mouth seem to have curled up slightly. Lin Yie tries to look more closely, but she's already back to her usual indifferent look.

"Really?" He shrugs, "I think I hit the jackpot."

Skadi shakes her head and leaves.

...

Ten minutes later, Lin Yie arrived at the HR department.

Orchid has been sipping her red tea leisurely in her chair while admiring the scenery outside the window.

"Dr. Lin," Orchid glances at Lin Yie before turning around to face him, "What do you need?"

"The bathroom blew up."

*Pfft*

Orchid wipes her mouth quickly with a handkerchief. She frowns, "Say that again."

"Uh, it didn't really blow up, but the walls are broken," Lin Yie explains awkwardly, "I had a... small disagreement with my new assistant."

"What kind of disagreement would blow the bathroom up?!"

Orchid feels really irritated, but then, she remembers she's a proper lady. She pats her chest gently and forces herself to calm down.

"I will take a look myself later," She rolls her eyes, "Who's your new assistant?"

"Skadi."

"Oh, Skadi, huh," Orchid nods while taking a sip of her tea.

Lin Yie takes a step back.

A few seconds later.

*Pfft*
