Lin Yie is once again assigned the same room after arriving at Lungmen. It's in the same building W blew up, which seems to be on the edge of collapse.
His roommate is Ace this time.
Ace sets aside his equipment and takes a cigarette out of his pocket, but before he lights it, he looks at Lin Yie, "Do you mind if I smoke?"
"Nah."
"I think you do." Ace smiles and puts his cigarette back inside his pocket, "Sorry, I'm used to living alone, and I'm a heavy smoker."
Lin Yie raises an eyebrow, "Really? You haven't smoked all day."
"Well, I had to hold myself back."
"True." Lin Yie chuckles, "But if you want to smoke, go for it. I really don't mind."
Ace hesitates for a moment, but in the end, he shakes his head, "I'll smoke later." He lies down on his bed and looks at the ceiling.
Lin Yie continues unpacking his clothes.
Ace asks, "Are you not going to take a walk outside? We don't get to visit Lungmen everyday."
"Maybe later. What about you?"
"I've seen it too many times already."
Lin Yie asks, "What do you think about the city?"
"It's nice." Ace says, "I've always wanted to buy a house here."
"Then why don't you do it?" Lin Yie sits down on his own bed.
"First of all, the cost of living here is twice or maybe three times that of Chernobog." Ace shrugs, "It's not that I can't afford it, but I really don't feel the need to spend so much money just to live here. For me, having a roof above my head is enough."
"Have you married yet?"
"Marriage? What the heck is that? I've never heard of that word."
Lin Yie pauses.
Ace laughs, "I was joking, but seriously, I probably won't get married. Whoever becomes my wife will suffer, so I think being single is better for me and others."
"I think you just haven't met your soulmate yet."
"Pfft." Ace laughs, "Dr. Lin, I know you're trying to comfort me, but save those words for teenagers, not an old man like me."
Lin Yie purses his lips, "I guess so."
"Haha, I think it's because you're not used to dealing with people around my age." Ace says, "Oh, that girl, Liz, and Ifrit, they seem to believe in you."
Lin Yie sighs, "They only believe in me on the surface."
Ace shakes his head, but he doesn't delve into the subject. Instead, he says, "Now I want to have a kid myself."
Lin Yie looks at him in surprise, "Didn't you say you don't want to get married?"
"Not that I don't want to, I just don't think I can." Ace bites down on a cigarette and mutters, "I think everyone, at some point in their life, should leave something behind."
"So that's why you want to have a kid?"
"Not necessarily, but kids are cute." Ace turns his head to look at Lin Yie, "Hmm... This is weird."
"What's weird?"
Ace sighs, "Those are things I would only think to myself. I would never talk about them with anyone, but when I chat with you, I can't help but tell you everything."
"Really?" Lin Yie tilts his head in bewilderment.
"Yeah. Maybe it has something to do with your innate talent. It's hard to keep my guard up, when I talk to you. I think that's why everyone likes to ask you for help."
Ace closes his eyes, "I'm gonna take a nap. What about you?"
"I'm not tired yet."
"Then take a walk outside while you still have time. There's a shopping street nearby. It's pretty good." Ace says, "And Silence is still here, so you don't have to take care of Ifrit, but when she's gone, you are not going to have time for that."
Lin Yie nods in agreement. He knows about the place Ace mentioned, but because of Ifrit and Nightingale, he didn't have the time to go there.
"Alright, I'll be back later." Lin Yie walks toward the door. Before he leaves, he asks, "Anything you want me to buy?"
"I was waiting for you to say that." Ace smiles, "There's a shop on the same street."
"Alright."
Ace takes his wallet out and gives Lin Yie a stack of cash, "Thanks for the trouble."
Lin Yie hesitates for a moment before taking the cash from Ace. After learning about the shop's location, he walks out the door.
He thought about bringing Ifrit along, but she probably doesn't want him to be anywhere near her, not to mention she's a shut-in through and through. Also, it's easy for an Infected to get in trouble, even in Lungmen, so Lin Yie decides to go alone.
{Rhodes Island's Psychologist}
Lin Yie walks on the shopping street while admiring the beauty of the city.
He sighs.
Lungmen really is prosperous. Just this street alone looks impressive.
Too bad there is no internet cafe.
After walking around for a while, Lin Yie feels that he's already seen what this place has to offer, so he buys the cigarettes for Ace before going inside a cafe for some red tea.
While he's standing in line, Lin Yie suddenly hears some woman screaming, "Ahhhhh! That thief stole my purse!!!"
He turns around and sees a middle-aged woman screaming. She's pointing at a thug who's running away with her bag.
The people around her don't even try to help her.
But Lin Yie is different.
He runs after the thief immediately.
Now that he's highly skilled in sword fighting, he can take a thief down with ease. If he can't, he has a gun.
So, there's no need to worry.
Lin Yie shouts, "Stop running!"
After several turns around the corners, Lin yie finds the thief goes through a purse in a dark alley.
Lin Yie has a personal grudge against thieves in general. When he was a kid, someone cut his pants open and stole his allowance on a bus. What made it worse was that he was left walking around with his butt in the open. He only noticed the opening when the cold winds outside brushed his butt.
So, die!
Lin Yie tackles the thief and stomps on his back, "Motherfucker, you dared to destroy the evidence?!"
The thief screams in pain.
Lin Yie stops in his tracks.
That scream... Why did it sound like it came from a woman?
What follows is the angry voice of a female, "Bastard! You dared to attack the police?! I'll fucking kill you!"
