The next morning Lin Ye gets up early and rushes to Nightingale's room. But, he didn't expect there to be so many people. There are not only the devil sisters Hibiscus and Lava but also Shining and Nearl.

What's going on?

They all look at him, and he realizes they have been expecting him.

"What's going on here?"

Shining speaks up first. "Dr. Kal'tsit should have told you."

Nearl seems troubled but speaks frankly. "Liz wants you to move onto the next stage of her treatment, that is, with your new ability. She wants you to free her other personality."

Lin Ye shakes his head, "I know, but I don't want to hurt her again."

Lava interjects. "Ms. Kal'tsit has to consider not only Ms. Liz's sickness but also your new ability. She wants you to use us as test subjects."

"Lava!" Hibiscus sounds anxious, "Don't say it like that."

"It's not wrong though is it?" Lava shakes her head and takes a step back to show the lab equipment behind her, "Ms. Liz's problem is special, so we have to be unconventional."

"But you don't have to call us test subjects..." Hibiscus whispers.

Lava pretends she didn't hear anything, and it's not like she's wrong. Lin Ye knows Kal'tsit is a researcher, and researchers are naturally curious. If it weren't for some official business Kal'tsit probably would have volunteered herself.

Going inside Dr. Kal'tsit's mind...nope. A thousand pardons, she's probably a kind-hearted person, but I don't want to freeze to death inside an Ice queen's-no empress's-brain!

Lin Ye shudders at the thought, but he can also well understand the necessity of these experiments. Having more samples will help minimize the risk of hurting Liz.

But they could have told him in advance.

Shining steps forward, "Let me be the first test subject."

"Are you sure?" Lin Ye asks

Shining nods. "This is what Liz wants, and it's also my will."

Nearl nods her head. "I'll go next."

Lava doesn't say anything. It seems these two sisters have made the same decision.

Lin Ye asks, "So when do you want me to use my ability on Liz?"

"If we manage to collect enough data today, we can do it after the experiments." Shining says, "But I heard you couldn't even last more than one minute the first time you did it."

That phrasing...so, so very easily misunderstood...but Lin Ye won't point that out. He would sound like a pervert.

Shining continues, "Based on your previous experiences, I might sustain the same mental stress before I can wake up. Or I might just wake up like that Chen Sir. Right?"

"But I don't know how Madam Ch'en felt. She never told me."

"At least not as bad as how Liz reacted." Shining takes the sleeping pills, "Maybe it only happens to Sarkaz. We'll find out soon."

Shining lies down and says, "This kind of medicine doesn't work well on Sarkaz's, so it'll take a while to work on me. If you're bored, you can look for Liz."

"She should be sleeping right now." Lava says. "You came too early today."

"Hm, I guess I will stay here."

As Shining said, the pills are not effective for her. She has to take many before she feels sleepy. Even then, she still needs half an hour to sleep.

Hibiscus and Lava immediately connect Shining to the various machines.

Lin Ye takes a deep breath. Then, he grabs her hand.

1 second, 5 seconds, 10 seconds...

???

When he is about to doubt if his ability activated, Lin Ye finds himself on a battlefield full of Sarkaz corpses.

Is this... Shining's dream?

He looks around and immediately sees a familiar face. How can he forget it? That breathtaking yet cold face, those obsidian-like eyes with the gaze that can pierce into his soul.

"Shining..."

Then, he sees a white light. After that...there is no after.

Lin Ye opens his eyes again and sees a familiar ceiling.

It takes him a while to realize what just happened. In less than one minute, Shining cut him down!
