Chapter 6: The Death of Nick Fury

Natasha's P.O.V

I just pulled up to the hospital after getting a call from Maria Hill saying that Nick was in the hospital after being shot down in Steve's apartment.

I run into the viewing room where I can see Nick being operated on. I also see Y/N, Steve and Hill standing in there watching.

My motherly instincts kick at this point as I go over to Y/N.

Natasha: Oh my god! Baby are you okay?

I look over his face and body to make sure there are no wounds.

Y/N: Mum I'm fine, I'm fine. I didn't get hit, the shooter was aiming for me.

I then turned to look at Nick laying on the operating table.

Natasha: Is he gonna make it?

Steve: I don't know.

Natasha: Tell me about the shooter.

Steve: He's fast. Strong. Had a metal arm.

Natasha: Ballistics?

Maria: Three rounds, no rifling. Completely untraceable.

Natasha: Soviet-made.

Maria: Yeah, how did you know that?

I didn't answer the question as I was still trying to putting it all together. Then I realised that it could be him, he could finally be back after all this time. Nick then started having problems.

I was really starting to worry now.

Natasha: Don't do this to me, Nick.

I kept saying this to myself a few more times hoping that he wouldn't die.

But then the doctor's call it. Nick Fury was officially confirmed dead.

Steve's P.O.V

After Nick was confirmed as dead the doctor's allowed Y/N, Nat and I to saying our finally goodbyes.

After a few minutes Hill came in.

Maria: I need to take him now.

I looked at slightly shocked by this. But then realised she was right.

So I went over to Nat to let her know.

Steve: Natasha.

Nat then put her hand on Nick's forehead. Before leaving the room.

Y/N and I took off after her to make sure she was alright.

Steve: Natasha wait.

Natasha turned to look at us, then pointed at Y/N.

Natasha: What was Y/N doing in your apartment?

Steve: He was there because I offered to help him out with his history project.

Natasha: And Fury?

Steve: (Sighs) I don't know, I didn't get a chance to find out.

Rumlow: Cap, they want you back at S.H.I.E.L.D.

I turned to face Rumlow.

Steve: Yeah, give me a second.

Rumlow: They want you back now.

Steve: Okay.

Rumlow then walks away.

Natasha: You're a terrible liar.

Nat then shakes her head and sighs.

Natasha: Look, there's something I've gotta go do. So do you mind watching Y/N for until I get back.

Steve: Yeah, sure.

Natasha: Thanks, okay, Y/N you stay with Steve until I get back okay?

Y/N: Yeah okay mum. I love you.

Natasha: I love you too baby.

Natasha then walks off leaving Y/N with me.

Y/N's P.O.V

Steve and I watch mum walk away. I figured she's gonna start looking for the shooter.

Normally I'd try and stop her but when she puts her mind to something there's no stopping her. I learnt that lesson a long time ago.

Steve then looks over to me.

Steve: (Whispers) Do you still have that USB drive?

I pull out the USB drive from my pocket.

Y/N: (Whispers) Yeah, why?

Steve: (Whispers) Because we need to hide it somewhere only the two of us know about.

He and I both look at the vending machine that is being refilled.

After a few seconds Steve and I walk over to Rumlow and the rest of the S.T.R.I.K.E team.

Steve: Lets go.

Steve and I left with the S.T.R.I.K.E team knowing that we had left the USB drive in a safe place.
