Darling, there's a place
that I wanna run with you.
We're going home.
If we make it or we don't,
we won't be alone.
When I see your light shine,
I know I'm home.

It felt like a dream. This life felt like a dream to Violet.

There she was, sitting by the kitchen table, watching as her mother and dad smiled and laughed while making breakfast. She never expected that recovering from a gunshot wound could be so blissful. She never expected that she'd have this life.

That Tuesday was officially Violet's first day back, and both of her parents decided to see her off. It was honestly everything she ever wished for and more, but she was still waiting for the bad news to come. There was always bad news.

But maybe this time there wouldn't be bad news.

Violet's phone started to ring, and she picked it up with a smile on her face. "Finn! How's campus life?"

She heard him chuckle through the phone, "So much funner than I expected. I can't believe I didn't do this sooner."

"Well, I mean I get it. Burt's still going through his cancer treatment and you wanted to help out at home as much as possible while trying to commute. It makes sense."

"Yeah, until Burt pretty much kicked me out of the house, so I could get the full college experience. I mean I'm gonna try to visit as much as I can–"

Violet laughed, "Don't even. You'll be too busy at college parties, and that's okay. I'll be there for him and your mom."

"Violet, you're still injured. Don't worry about trying to take care of Burt and my mom. You still have to worry about Regionals too."

Violet rolled her eyes, "Relax. Kurt's coming in like two more weeks for Burt's last appointment, so I can handle it up until then. It's not a big deal."

Finn sighed, "Okay, just don't get behind on your physical therapy. They won't be able to do this without you."

"I know, I know," Violet persisted, but then her gaze landed on her parents who became serious all of the sudden. She furrowed her eyebrows at the sight, "Hey, I'll call you later okay?"

"Yeah, of course. I have to get to class anyways."

She quickly hung up the phone and used her crutches to walk closer to her parents, "Hey, what's wrong?"

Both of her parents gave her a solemn look which made Violet's eyes widen slightly. She was bracing herself for the news. She knew something bad would happen and this bliss wouldn't last.

"I have to go back to New York," her dad mentioned sadly. "I told them that I needed to be here for you and for your recovery, but they were insistent that I come back to New York to help with the compositions since they apparently can't do it without me."
