"New Directions, I would like to introduce you to our new show choir consultant... Jesse St. James." Rachel was the only one enthusiastically clapping. In fact, she was the only one clapping. Violet automatically glared at him which Jesse took notice.

Finn spoke up, "I don't trust this guy. How do we know he's not just going to trick us into doing something stupid, so his alma mater wins?"

"I don't think I need to do much tricking to get you to do something stupid, Finn." Jesse then stared at Violet who was seated in between Rachel and Sam. "Hello, Violet."

"Hi, Jesse." Violet flashed a sarcastic smile.

Rachel was confused, "Wait. How do you two know each other?"

"Violet is an... old friend. We met in New York. By the way... congratulations on your callback for Maria. Those are the same week as Nationals, right?" Violet widened her eyes at Jesse. She didn't even get the chance to tell Mr. Schue yet, let alone the rest of the club.

The club then broke out into chatter and exclamations. From the, "How could you not tell me?" to "You got a callback for Maria?!?!" to even "Oh, well, now we're screwed."

"Okay!" She managed to get the club's attention. "Yes, I got a callback for Maria from 'West Side Story.' No, I will not be abandoning you for Nationals because the callbacks are on the day we get there. Yes, I am focused on the task at hand. I even have choreography ideas mapped out already even without anyone asking."

Sam nodded and supported her, "She's telling the truth. I saw her choreography notebook."

Violet mouthed a thank you to Sam before looking back and glaring at Jesse, "How'd you even find out?"

"Oh, the Broadway blogosphere is very in-depth. When people heard about an Anthony going for such an iconic role as Maria, it's of course gonna generate talk."

Mr. Schue interrupted the conversation, "Okay, we can talk about this later. Why don't we just focus on the task at hand now? Anyway, Jesse is just a consultant. I still make all the calls. I have all the confidence in the world in you guys. I just think that we could use all the help we can because... this is it. We've been working so hard for two years for this moment, and that moment is finally here. I was talking with Jesse and he agreed that we should continue with our successful trend of doing original songs for the competition. I was thinking of doing one group number and one duet–"

"Rachel and I should sing a duet. We killed in last year at Regionals with 'Faithfully.'" Violet turned around to give him a "really?" look.

Quinn responded, "Yeah. It killed us. We lost."

"May I?" Mr. Schue then gave Jesse the go-ahead. "I agree that Rachel should sing lead, but, Finn, I think it's best if you sit this one out. The fact is, most of the other guys in here are better singers, and Mike Chang, who can't even sing, can at least dance. You kind of sing and dance like a zombie who has to poop."
