I think that I see water
in the distance
Heatwaves are making
shadows in my vision
And I swear that I saw
water in the distance
Maybe I missed it
What if I missed it?

"Extraordinary Merry Christmas"

Winter Break – December 2011

"I'm just saying that you didn't see how he was looking at you, Vi. It was like you were the only person in that soup kitchen to him," Quinn retold to Violet over the phone.

Violet, Sam, and Rory were currently on their road trip to Kentucky to spend Christmas with the Evans. They made a pit stop to refuel on gas and for Rory to empty his tiny bladder. Sam was in the gas station paying for the gas and to get Violet some Tylenol for the headache that she woke up with.

So that left Violet by the car, waiting for it to refuel, but she had Quinn to keep her company, who was telling Vi all about her conversation with Sam.

Violet rolled her eyes, "Quinn, you know that he's obsessed with Mercedes, right? I'm pretty sure he's 100% committed to her and over me. It's been like that for a while. I mean, we barely even dated," Vi then saw Sam start walking towards her in the distance. "And he's coming back now, so I have to go soon."

"Okay, okay. All I'll say is that he moved on to Mercedes pretty quickly, and they bonded over missing you, so I don't think you should rule out that possibility."

"Bye Quinn. Have a Merry Christmas," Violet said in a sing-song voice before hanging up on her blonde friend.

"What'd Quinn call about?" Sam asked.

Violet sighed and smiled softly at her best friend, "Just wishing us a safe car ride and a Merry Christmas. What'd you get?"

Sam's face lit up as he showed her his bag of snacks, "I got Bugles."

"Of course you did," Violet giggled.

"I got Rory some potato chips and a coke, but I opted to not show him beef jerky."

"Good idea. Being stuck in a car that smells like meat does not sound great. It'd probably just make my headache worse, which reminds me, did they have Advil or Tylenol or anything?"

Sam nodded and brought out the red and white bottle, "They did, and I also got you a snack and water."

"Buttercup, I just needed something to make my headache better."

He shrugged, "I know, but I also know that you haven't been eating much or drinking enough water. Plus, you didn't get a lot of sleep which is probably why you have the headache in the first place, so keys."
