"Quinn, I mean it. Don't come if you can't."
Violet heard Quinn's voice penetrate through her phone, "No, Vi, I can. I'm trying to find a flight for tomorrow–"
"Quinn," Violet scolded.
Quinn kept trying to convince her, but it was like she was trying to convince herself, "I need to come, Vi. What kind of person would I be if I didn't come? After everything Finn and I went through, and then I do this?"
"Finn wouldn't want you to sacrifice an extraordinary opportunity that could help change the course of your career. Quinn, he'd feel so bad."
"But–"
Violet reassured her, "You are not a worse person for not coming to the memorial. We all understand if you can't make it. Brittany can't even make it, so you're not the only one. We all get it, and I'm sure if Finn were here, he'd tell you that he understands too."
Quinn fell silent, but Violet could hear her small sniffles, and Vi continued, "I know for a fact that he wouldn't want anyone of us to put our lives on hold for him. He cared about us so much that he'd hate how much pain we're all in right now. There's no use in causing more pain to yourself by wondering the ifs or the could've beens."
"Thanks Violet. You always know what to say."
Her eyes fell to the ground once she heard Quinn's words, her exact words being the same ones Finn had said earlier this year.
"Uh, yeah. So please don't beat yourself up over this, okay?"
"Okay."
Violet looked at the time, "I have to go now. Burt and I are picking Kurt and Santana up from the airport, and then we're driving to the school."
Quinn questioned, "The school's just letting you not come in for classes."
She sighed, "Well, I have a free period in the morning, and, honestly, Sue's been... very accommodating lately."
"That's good. Sue can be a bitch sometimes, but she also cares. I don't doubt that she wasn't hit hard by Finn's passing."
Violet cringed at the word, but she moved on. The two friends said goodbye to one another, and then Violet rode in Burt's truck to the airport.
"This week's gonna be rough," Violet mentioned.
"I know, but you guys will get through it together," Burt tried to say optimistically.
