I can't continue pretending
to choose these opposite sides
on which we fall.
The loving you later, if at all.
No right minds could
wrong be this many times.

"So it's been a week since your dad left you with just your mother," Sam pointed out.

She gave him a look, "And it's been a week since Britt left for MIT."

Sam had insisted on helping Violet walk to Glee since she was still on crutches. Violet figured that it was because Brittany was away and he'd usually walk to Glee with her, but since they've been on the rocks, things have been different.

Sam rolled his eyes, "Are we really still talking about this?"

"Yes, yes we are. And you know why?" she asked while she looked at him expectantly.

He sighed, "Why?"

"Because she's gonna be there until right before Regionals which means that you two are going to be apart for a month when you're already not in a good place. I'm just trying to have your back as your friend."

"And I'm telling you that I don't need your help. Britt and I... we're fine–"

"You're not fine," she scoffed.

He threw his head back in exasperation, "Can we just not talk about this anymore? I know you want to help, but if me and Britt aren't bothered by this, then I don't get why you are."

Violet stopped in her tracks for a minute, "I just... I care about you– I care about you both. I'd hate to see you get hurt by each other or let the relationship flame out because you're both just not putting enough effort into it."

His gaze softened, "I promise that I'm fine, Vi. Okay?"

She bit the inside of her cheek, "Fine."

The two then continued to walk towards the choir room when Sam smirked, "So let's bring this conversation back to your mother–"

Violet groaned as she repeated his words, "Are we still talking about this?"

He chuckled as he lightly bumped his shoulder into her, "Hey, you asked me about Britt, so I'm asking you about your mom."

"Fine," she grumbled.

Sam continued, "So she hasn't left yet? She hasn't shown signs of leaving yet? I don't need to come in to help out, do I?"

"No, no, and no. Sam, I swear on my life–"

Sam sucked in a breath, "Yeah, let's not do that especially while you're still recovering from a bullet wound."
