This was the first week where Kurt wasn't at McKinley. Violet knew it was the best thing for her friend, but a piece of her still felt missing. Kurt was her first and best friend, and it was just strange to go throughout the day without him.
Violet was in the choir room sitting in between Mercedes and Mike, waiting for Mr. Schue to come in a announce what they'd be doing for sectionals.
"I mean how these things usually go is that Rachel and Finn will probably do a duet together or Rachel will get a solo. Then we have a group number where they're probably gonna be the leads." Mercedes was explaining to her how Mr. Schue picks the setlists for the competition.
"Well that hardly seems fair... You guys have a lot of talent in this room. If anything more talent needs to be showcased." Mercedes nodded.
"Mr. Schue just has his favorites, and Rachel would throw a tantrum if she didn't get the lead anyway. She literally quit Glee Club last year because Mr. Schue didn't give one solo to her–"
The bell then rang which indicated that class would be starting. Mr. Schue entered the room and Rachel automatically started talking. "Mr. Schuester, I have an announcement. I've selected the perfect moving ballad for Finn and I to sing to launch our performance at sectionals."
Mercedes and Violet looked at each other knowingly and rolled their eyes. Mr. Schue interrupted. "Me first. Two things: First, our competition at sectionals are your classic stool choirs. We need to do what they can't: Dance. Which is why I've decided to feature Brittany and Mike Chang's sweet moves in our performance, and since Violet did such a great job with Rocky Horror, I've decided to make her this competition's choreographer." Mike looked over to Violet and they gave each other a high five. Mercedes started congratulating Violet who was extremely excited for this opportunity especially since Mike and Brittany could handle difficult choreography.
Rachel interjected, "Wait, they're gonna dance in front of me while I sing my solo?"
"You're not getting a solo for this competition, Rachel."
Mercedes smiled, "Finally. So what song do I get to sing?"

"I was thinking the winners of our duet's competitions would take the leads." Violet turned around to the couple and smiled widely at them. They have a really good connection, and their voices fit really well with each other, but of course, Rachel protested.
"Ken and Barbie? Wait, a-are you trying to throw this?"
Quinn retaliated, "You used to be just sort of unlikable, but now I pretty much feel like punching you every time you open your mouth." which made Violet stifle a chuckle.
Mr. Schue intervened, "Okay, listen. I have talked the talk about everyone in here feeling special for over a year now, but, frankly, I haven't walked the walk. I mean, we have got a lot of talent here, and I'm gonna highlight it."
