Nationals.

Violet would be lying if she said she wasn't antsy about it. All of her hard work from this year has been all leading up to this. Of course, she had her anxieties, but for some reason, she was confident that they would do well.

Well, that was until Mercedes got sick their first night in Chicago. Violet was pretty much taking care of her all night which she didn't really mind. By morning, Mercedes still wasn't getting better so Violet got the witch doctor aka Sue to come in to see if she could help.

Coach Sue took her temperature and it was at 101.2˚F. Mr. Schue then stormed in after hearing about Mercedes.

"What's going on? How bad is it?"

Sue responded, "Her temperature's at 101 degrees. Given the fact that Weezy's complaining about an upset stomach, it's either Amazonian dengue fever or the H1N1 super virus."

Violet cocked her head, "Or she has food poisoning."

"We all wanted burritos for lunch, so we went to Chipotle, but Mercedes tried some dive called 'Señora Salsation,'" Santana clarified.

Sue looked at Schue, "Will, word, please." The two adults then walked away and started to discuss something quietly as the girls just surrounded Mercedes.

"So here's what's gonna happen," Mr. Schue said firmly, "Mercedes, you're on bed rest, Quinn, you're stepping in."

Quinn looked panicked, "No, no, no, I can't dance that number. I can't sing it either, not like–"

Violet looked over at her, "We need you, Quinn."

"And you're better than you think you are," Tina added.

"Tina, you too. You're in the Troubletones," Mr. Schue declared.

Mercedes tried to sit up," Mr. Schue, this is my last competition. I don't want to miss it."

"Amen, to that, sister. That's why I'm putting you on a vitamin B-12 drip. We're flushing your system with Pedialyte, and I'm gonna fill that bathtub with ice and see if we can't get your ambient body temperature back down to normal. Worked in Jacob's Ladder."

Violet coughed, "Witchdoctor," easing the girls' nerves slightly.

"Alright, we all have our marching order. Let's do it!"

So that's what they did. The New Directions were all in the hotel's ballroom, and Violet was trying to run two different rehearsals with the help of Mike. The room was tense. A lot of people were motivated to win, so they became easily frustrated with everyone else.

"Okay, Troubletones, take a break while I work with the guys on 'Dashboard.' Brittany, can you help Quinn and Tina go over the moves one more time, and Quinn, don't forget to take a break if you need to!" Violet called out to everyone.

Most of the guys made their way to the center as Violet ran through certain sections of the performance. It was only most of the guys because Puck decided that it would be a better use of his time to study for his Geography makeup exam.

Violet honestly didn't mind that much, but it bothered Sam so much so that he decided to pick a fight which is when chaos ensued.

Sam started to shove Puck and then Puck decided to escalate everything which made her eyes widen and call Coach Beiste to come down from wherever she was and help diffuse the situation. The other guys were currently trying to pull the two apart while some of the girls were trying to help Brittany who accidentally threw something out of the window.

Violet tried to get in the middle of it because she knew neither guy would try and hit the other with her in the way. Sam didn't ever want to hurt his girlfriend and Puck knew that she would castrate him. That didn't really stop Sam from trying to move her aside and reach for Puck though.
