{Leorio and Kurapika live together in college, pre-relationship} 3rd person POV
Kurapika appeared in the doorway, eyes glowing. "Leorio, I'm pissed off."
Leorio looked up from his book and rubbed the bridge of his nose where his glasses had been resting. "What happen- what are you wearing?"
Kurapika was wearing a crop top and loose pajama pants. He was showing a lot of skin, he knew that; that's partly why he was angry.
"Laundry day- that doesn't matter." He shook his head and made his way across the room. He leaned against Leorio's desk, commanding eye contact. "I'm half a mental breakdown away from cutting off all my hair, and you have exactly three minutes to convince me not to do it."
Leorio gulped, backing up a little. "But Kurapika, your hair, you've spent so long growing it out."
He shook his head. "I don't like it. It's long and- and feminine! And it's hard to take care of!" He gripped it in his hands to emphasize. "I hate it! I don't want it anymore!"
"I've got an idea." Leorio stood and grabbed him by the wrists. "Get your shoes on. We're going to the store."
In a matter of minutes they were waiting at the bus stop; wearing their pajamas and slippers. It was 1 am, and this was the only public bus still in service.
They rode in silence. Kurapika could feel people staring at him. He crossed his arms over his abdomen, trying to hide all the skin that was showing. Leorio noticed this, and moved to stand in front of him, blocking everyone's view with his back.
Leorio had his arm over Kurapika's shoulder, holding onto the overhead rails for stability on the swaying bus. That tucked Kurapika right against his chest; still standing nervously, mere inches away from his senior.
The bus slowed, and Kurapika accidentally bumped into him. He looked up, worried about how Leorio would react, only to find the bastard smirking at him.
Their stop came, and they disembarked it silence. They walked to the nearest convenience store, Leorio leading the way to the... hair care aisle?
"What are we doing here?" Kurapika asked, looking around at all the shampoos and washes and masks- it was all a bit too much for him. He felt overwhelmed by the extensive knowledge and vocabulary displayed that he didn't understand. He couldn't even read some of the words he saw.
"Over here." Leorio beckoned him down the aisle. Kurapika stayed right by his side, as if hoping the close proximity would ward off his anxiety.
Leorio pulled a box off the shelf and handed it to him.
"Hair dye?" Kurapika raised an eyebrow. The box showed a smiling woman with lilac purple hair.
"Let's just change it up a little, y'know, try something new."
"Purple will make me look girly." Kurapika couldn't hide his disgust.
"Then pick a different color."
"Only if you do it with me."
Leorio looked down at him, debating whether or not he hated the idea. "Ok. I'll bleach a lightning bolt in my hair if you dye yours pink."
Kurapika's eyes widened. "You'll what?"
Leorio shrugged. "You only die once, right? So live everyday." He grabbed the box he needed, and smiled. "This is gonna be fun."
Kurapika picked a box of rose gold dye. "You don't think I'll look too feminine?"
Leorio laughed. "Who cares? If you don't like it we can come back next week and get a new color."
