Kurapika loved Leorio's stepdad. As much as a stranger in the house could love another stranger in the house. Which was... not at all. They'd been staying at Rosario's home for the holidays, and everything had gone smoothly... sort of.

Roberto was weird. He believed in making home-brewed concoctions and "potions" to cure common ailments. He believed in rubbing rocks to your face to relieve stress, and tying feathers in your hair to ward off migraines. He believed that his morning coffee was bringing him closer to immortality.

Kurapika was trying to respect him because maybe it's a cultural thing. But Roberto was making it really hard to get along with him. He was surly, and cursed a lot, and had strong opinions that he wasn't afraid to vocalize.

That's exactly what he was doing. He was berating Kurapika about the climate condition in Lukso, while Kurapika idly washed dishes and prayed for his husband's hasty return.

"Places like Lukso are isolated and... uncivilized. They don't have pollution and big business buildings like the rest of the world. They are clean." Roberto rambled.

Kurapika made a noncommittal sound of vague agreement, moving on to wash a cutting board.

"That's why I'm gonna start my community there."

Kurapika froze. "What?"

"You know, the communities I've been telling you about, with common wealth and communal ovens, and-"

"No, I know. But you're going to build them in Lukso?"

Roberto nodded like he was the smartest man in the world. "Exactly. The place is gorgeous, and nobody is even living there, so nobody is gonna stop me from clearing a plot of land to start building the homes."

Kurapika rinsed his work. "You can't do that."

"I can. I just need to get enough money to rent a bull dozer. Everything else is basically taken care of."

"No, I mean that you can't build on Lukso land. It's a historical site."

Roberto scoffed. "Says who? I done some research on it and there's no claim. Nobody owns it. Legally."

Kurapika took a deep breath and composed himself. "Do you know the history of the people there?"

"Didn't they all die? That's the whole point, nobody lives there."

"Every person in the Lukso district was murdered during the red moon massacre." Kurapika stated, drying the dishes. "Some even say that their souls are still trapped there. That's why no one has ever built on that land or pillaged the towns. It's haunted."

Roberto was silent. Kurapika knew that Spanish folks were prone to be quite superstitious.

"147 souls. None are allowed to ascend until vengeance is taken upon those who slaughtered them." Kurapika said idly, knowing that he had already done that deed.

"You're lying." Roberto decided

"Oh? What makes you think that?"

"You said it yourself: no one has ever pillaged the towns in the Lukso district. You're trying to scare me off so you can go treasure hunting all by yourself."

Just then, Leorio and his mother returned from their garden work. Leorio came to the sink and gave his husband a kiss while washing his hands.

"Say, Leorio. Do you want to go treasure hunting with me in Lukso District?"

"Are you kidding me, that place is sacred. And haunted."

Kurapika gave Roberto a pointed look. "That's what I've been saying."

Leorio glanced back at his stepdad and his face fell with realization. He tsked. "Listen, I gotta take a shower but I promise I'll take care of this, okay?"

"Let's shower together." Kurapika whispered.

Leorio's eyes widened. "Tally ho, okay." He finished washing his hands and led Kurapika away while giving the others a lame excuse.

As soon as their bedroom door was closed, Kurapika attacked his husband, kissing him deeply and sensually.

"I love watching you do garden work." He mumbled, kissing again and again. "All your shiny muscles out in the sun."

"You'd better like the smell that comes with shiny muscles." Leorio growled, slipping his belt off and discarding his shoes.

Kurapika took off his clothes as well, and made his way to the bathroom before Leorio could catch up. While he turned on the shower, his husband came up and hugged him from behind.

"I know you have a hard time getting along with Roberto." Leorio kissed his head. "But I'm proud of you for being so patient."

"Can you do something about his Lukso district obsession? He can't go there." He turned his face and kissed him.

"I know. I'll try to think of something to say. I really do think you scared him off though," Leorio's hands started to migrate lower along Kurapika's body. "With talk of ghosts."

"That's why I did it." Kurapika guided Leorio's hand down.

"Are you horny?"

"A little." Kurapika admitted. "We can stop if you want."

"Nah, I think this is fine. But we should get in first so we don't waste water."

Kurapika spent the most part of their shower scrubbing his sweaty husband. Leorio was shampooing Kurapika's hair... not the hair on his head.

Kurapika's eyes rolled back at a particularly thorough rub. He grunted softly, trying to keep the volume down while at someone else's house.

"Is there something on your mind?" Leorio asked. "You don't seem to be enjoying this very much."

"It was my hometown, Leorio. He wants to bulldoze and vandalize the land. He's going to run the eco system into the ground." Kurapika worried. "I don't think a ghost story is enough to scare him away."

Leorio stood and kissed his husband. "Don't worry about it. He's a lunatic. How is a man with no job and no inheritance going to afford the equipment to do that kind of project? He can't even rent a dozer, there's no way he can build an entire community." Leorio kissed him again. "I promise he'll get over it soon."

"Okay, if you say so." Kurapika kissed him back.

"I do say so. And I'm always right." Leorio said with a smirk, continuing his work. Now that Kurapika was relaxed, he could fully enjoy the loving handjob that he provided.
