{TW: BODY DYSMORPHIA I'm really sorry for doing this to you right after his birthday but this is how I cope and tbh I been going thru it lately}

Kurapika stared at the cosplayer in the photo. They had such smooth skin and perfectly pointed eyeliner. Their face was cute, with an upturned nose and big eyes. Even their lips were puffy and pink.

Kurapika believed he was nothing like that. He had bags under his eyes and baby fat lingering on his cheeks. He was missing eyelashes in chunks from all the times he had absentmindedly pulled them out during a stress episode. His eyebrows were thin and haphazardly shaped. His hair and grown out and was frizzy most of the time. His haircut wasn't clean or pretty.

Kurapika swiped to the next picture and saw a full body picture of the cosplayer, and immediately felt his stomach drop. They were young, yet well muscled. Lean and tall, flat stomached and perfectly proportionate. Kurapika was short, and embarrassingly thin; but every time his stomach was full he instantly regretted it because he got bloated and fat. His shoulders weren't broad, and his hips were too wide and feminine.

Kurapika turned off his phone and closed his eyes. Not again. Please not again.

His lip started to tremble, and tears started to fall down his face. He covered his face with his hands and cried.

Kurapika didn't hate his body. He just thought that it was weirdly shaped and wrong. He was insecure about his face because everyone he knew seemed to be more beautiful than him. Maybe it was vain, and maybe it was cruel to compare himself to others, but that's just the way his brain worked.

He took a deep breath. His body dysmorphia only got bad when he forgot to take his meds. Perhaps he'd missed taking them yesterday.

Just then, there was a knock at his door. "Can I come in?"

It was Leorio.

"Yeah. The door is unlocked."

When Leorio walked in, he was wearing a worried expression. "You okay? You sound like you've been crying."

Kurapika hung his head, trying to suppress more tears. "Leorio can you please get my meds?"

Leorio immediately took off. "I'll be right back!" He was good to his word, because he appeared a moment later with the small pill bottle and a bottle of chocolate milk. "Here you go, sunshine."

He watched to make sure Kurapika took the correct dose, then started to take off his work clothes.

"Sorry I'm home so late, I had charts to do at the hospital." Leorio changed into his sleepwear.

"It's fine." Kurapika said, not completely aware of the conversation. He was in pain. It was all he could think about.

"Can we cuddle?" Leorio said suddenly, catching Kurapika's attention.

Kurapika looked up at him with big watery eyes. His tears were falling uncontrollably. He nodded and opened his arms.

Leorio crawled across the bed and laid on top of him, resting his head on the soft white material of Kurapika's chest.

Kurapika took his glasses off and set them on the table. Then he hugged Leorio's head, running his fingers through the dark wavy hair as he continued to cry.

How could someone like me deserve Leorio? Why did Leorio settle for someone so... plain? Why couldn't i have been born into a nicer body? Maybe then Leorio would truly love me.

"Leorio?" Kurapika asked, his voice shaking. "Do you love me?"

Leorio looked up at him. "More than you could possibly imagine."

Kurapika sobbed. He still didn't believe him. He didn't understand how it was even possible for someone like Leorio to love him.

"Hey~" Leorio softly cooed, brushing his hair out of his eyes. "What's wrong, do you want to talk about it?" Kurapika shook his head, finally running out of tears. Leorio kissed his nose. "How about a warm bath? And some soup?"

The blond sniffed, and mumbled. "I'm not hungry."

"Yes you are." Leorio corrected softly. "I could hear your belly growling the whole time."

Kurapika covered his face with his hands. "I don't want to get fat."

There it is. Leorio thought to himself. "Oh sunshine. You're not gonna get fat, especially not from a bowl or two of soup. And even if you did get fat, I would still love you."

"How? I would be so ugly."

Leorio was taken aback. A bit offended, even. "Kurapika, being fat does NOT equal being ugly. Plus, the only thing that would change is that I have more of you." He gave Kurapika's face a hundred tiny kisses. "More to kiss." He hugged him tight. "More to hug." He let out a dreamy sigh. "And more to love. Your body is beautiful, sunshine. You are beautiful. And I'm gonna tell you every single day, so maybe someday you will believe it too."

Kurapika kissed Leorio slowly. "I love you, Leorio. I mean it."

"I love you Kurapika." Leorio's voice was sincere. "And I will never stop telling you."
