Starving for Leopika

Ok I don't have anything huge planned but I have a couple of drafts I want to dump so I won't feel guilty about not updating them. While I work on more, feel free to check out the other works on my page!

Gamer au

"Have you ever heard of Minecraft?" Leorio asked while making breakfast.

Kurapika's eyes flew open. If he hadn't been fully conscious before, he sure as hell was now. "Yeah... why the sudden interest?"

"Gon tried to teach me how to play it last night. It was super fun, even though I'm not great at the controls yet."

Kurapika didn't know how to approach this. "Do you want to get it? I have a laptop and setup you can use to play."

Leorio smiled. "I was about to offer you the same thing. I have my own laptop as well, and I downloaded the game already, I was just trying to find a way to ask if you wanted to play with me."

Kurapika smiled. "I would love to. How about on Sunday we get set up and we play, sound good?"

Leorio had no idea what he was getting into. Gon hovered over his shoulder as he opened the program, then pointed out keys and controls to help him play.

Killua snickered from the other side of the table, sitting next to Kurapika. "He has no idea, does he?"

"Shh." Kurapika smiled guiltily. "He doesn't need to know."

"He doesn't need to know that you're chain_bastard404?" Killua was struggling to contain his laughter. "Dude, you're a literal master of Minecraft. Your hardcore series has five hundred thousand subscribers. He thinks you've never played before."

"Don't pretend you aren't of equal skill." Kurapika countered. "Did you leave Gon in the dark from your talent too? Mr. speed runner with seventy thousand views a day."

"Touché." Killua mused. "Fine, as far as either of them know, we are noobs."

"And we will play as if we are." Kurapika whispered.

"Okay, guys! I got it figured out, you can join my world now!"

Killua and Kurapika shared a smirk, then returned to their respective setups.

With all four of them ready to log in, Kurapika took a deep breath. He knew how to keep his cool. He had mastered gaming under pressure. Of course, he was out of practice. It had been quite some time since he'd played. He was sure his subscribers were excited to get the notification 'playing Minecraft with my friends who have NO IDEA!'

He smiled as stream notifications started flooding in. People were FREAKING OUT that the faceless chain_bastard404 had finally come out of hibernation. Even if for only one stream.

"What's that sound?" Gon looked over the top of his laptop at Kurapika, who muted the notifications.

"Oh, it's nothing. I fixed it." Kurapika said, joining the game. He whispered to Killua through the game's chat function: I'm live streaming lol.

Then he added: don't say anything inappropriate.

LightningLicker99 whispered to you: poop.

Leorio's character jumped. "Okay guys. What do we do first?"

"Speed run." Killua said at the same time Gon said "build a house!"

The two boys looked at each other. Then laughed.

"How about... Killua and I speed run, while you two build the house?" Kurapika offered.

"I think I'll stay with Gon for this one." Killua said, walking over to Gon, who was already holding a flower.

Quesadillas

Kurapika turned up the tv as Leorio finished cooking. The taller man was by no definition a pro, but he'd grown up making these quesadillas, and he hadn't had them in a long time. It was nastalgic; coating the tortilla in barbecue sauce, then sprinkling heaps of shredded cheese on it. He slapped the monstrosity off of the pan and into a plate; perfectly toasted to a light golden brown.

He sliced it up, then brought it over with a six pack of beers. Kurapika scooted over for him, then held the plate while he got situated. They snuggled, ate the quesadilla, drank a can or two, then fell asleep in each other's arms.

I dunno what this is

"Leorio?" Kurapika was standing in the doorway of their bedroom, holding a blanket in one hand, and rubbing an eye with the other.

"Yes darling?"

Kurapika sniffed. "I had a nightmare."

Leorio opened his arms. "Come here."

Kurapika made his way to Leorio, then sat on his lap. He snuggled in, wrapping his arms around himself and tucking his head under Leorio's chin.

Leorio softly ran his fingers through Kurapika's hair. "I'm so sorry, sunshine. But things are better now, you're here with me."

Kurapika looked up and placed a kiss on the underside of his chin, nose rubbing lightly on the scruff lining the older man's jaw.

He whispered goodnight, then fell asleep soon after.

Hallucinations (fast food worker)

Kurapika brushed the crumbs from the table onto the floor. He wiped it clean with a rag, and glanced at a spider.

He threw the rag with all his might at the shadow, then punched it. He yelped in pain as his knuckles smacked the plastic table. That earned him some weird stares from customers.

It hadn't been a spider at all. It was just a shadow on his peripheral vision. But it had triggered his fight reaction, and turned his eyes a deep red. Oh no.

He left to the bathroom in a hurry, leaving the rag and sanitizer bucket. He locked the door behind him and spotted another spider.

He threw his ball and chain at it, cracking the tile wall. But once again it was a hallucination.

He slid to the floor, heart pounding. He could have sworn there were real spiders. But he had nothing to show for it.

Another shadow danced on the edge of his sight, and he turned in terror. It was just a shadow. The shadow from the sink. The sink was real. Real! The imaginary shadows and spiders were not real.

He curled up on the floor. He was scared. What did it mean? Why was he suddenly seeing things? Was he dehydrated? Or was he losing his mind?

I wish Leorio was here. He thought miserably as tears spilled down his face. He would know just what to say.

But Leorio didn't come. Kurapika was forced to calm down by himself, and finish the last two hours of his shift.
