Body

{short angst chapter that I wrote while I was going through some heavy gender dysphoria. Trans Kurapika}

Kurpaika tried to hold very still. He was laying in his bed. It was 1:18am. He was fighting back the urge to cry or throw up. He was controlling his breathing. But he felt cold. His hands. Arms. Face. Like he'd gone into shock.

He was trying not to think about his body.

Body. Another wave of shock and fear rolled over him, making his lip tremble. He had already spent all day crying, he needed to sleep.

Body. My chest. Legs. In between my legs. He felt like throwing up. Why can't I sleep? Anxiety gripped his heart and suffocated him.

He suddenly remembered he was wearing his sports bra like an idiot. So he sat up and took it off. His fingertips brushed his ribs, and a fresh icy wave washed through his veins. He lowered his shirt and curled up in bed once again.

He got out of bed to take a piss, taking his sweet time washing his hands afterward. He got a drink, and even a little mochi ball from the freezer.

He felt a little better, but he knew it wouldn't last long. So he went to Leorio's room and knocked quietly. There was a grunt which meant "come in."

Kurapika went inside, immediately surrounded by warm air and faint musk. He closed the door behind him, then made his way though Leorio's messy room to the bed. He crawled in next to Leorio, who simply lifted the blanket so he could join, then wrapped a protective arm around him.

Kurapika wasn't sure if Leorio liked him or not. Will he care that I'm trans? Is he some kind of freaky pervert who will like me even more when I tell him? When will I tell him? Should I tell him?

One thing was for sure; just being with Leorio made things better. Kurpaika could breathe easier, sleep quieter, and exist with more peace.

But I'm lying to him. Kurapika began to cry again.

"What's the matter?" Leorio mumbled, shifting in bed to face him.

"Oh. It's nothing." Kurapika whispered.

Leorio hesitated. "I know you're lying. There's something bothering you."

"It's not something I'm ready to tell you." Kurapika mumbled.

Leorio nodded. "Okay. When you're ready, then."
