Sick and Tired

{closer to canon, like... mid YorkNew/ phantom troupe arc idk.}

Kurapika closed his eyes, head pounding from the exertion of standing up.

"Kurapika!" Leorio took ahold of his shoulders and guided him back down to his seat. "You're looking awfully pale, are you alright?"

"It's just a headache." Kurapika insisted. Even talking made it worse.

"Dehydration probably, and lack of sleep I presume." Leorio sighed. "You really need to start taking better care of yourself."

"You really need to stop treating me like a child." Kurapika snapped.

"Well maybe you should stop acting like one!" Leorio countered.

"I got it as fast as I could!" Gon appeared holding a glass of water. "Here you go, Kurapika."

"Thank you, Gon." Kurapika took the cup gratefully and drank... the entire thing.

"Not good." Leorio muttered. He told Gon to go get his briefcase and meet them in Kurapika's room. Then he turned to the afflicted blond. "Come here."

"What are you do- stop! I can't walk fine on my own!" Even though Kurapika didn't like being picked up by the older man, he soon collapsed from the sudden head rush that came after shouting.

Leorio carried Kurapika down the hall to his room, grateful that the smaller man had momentarily lost consciousness. By the time they reached the dark room, Kurapika was waking up again.

"Leorio-"

"Shh, save your energy." Leorio whispered, setting the small blond on the bed.

"If I go to sleep now, I won't wake up for a long time." Kurapika warned.

"That's okay. We have three days until the solstice* so don't worry. Rest up, you'll have plenty of time."

"I'm sorry."

Leorio lifted an eyebrow. "Hmm? What for?"

"For snapping at you earlier. It was rude of me."

Leorio sighed. "Thanks. I get it, though. You were sick, and probably grouchy. But you did have a good point, I need to quit babying you so much."

Kurapika smiled a bit. "It's nice, you know, having someone to take care of me when I forget."

"I got some more water!" Gon came racing in with Leorio's briefcase and another full glass.

"Thanks bud."

"Are you gonna be alright, Kurapika?" Gon asked.

"He needs to rest, and he needs it to be quiet." Leorio informed gently.

"Oh right, sorry!" He whispered his apology.

"Thank you Gon." Kurapika smiled. "I'm going to be just fine."

Gon left quietly, waving to both of them as he left.

"You'll wake me up, won't you?" Kurapika asked quietly, head spinning once more.

"Of course. But if you wake up earlier than that, call me right away, okay?" Leorio was pulling various medicines out of his bag. He portioned some and handed Kurapika the small cup.

Kurapika took it without question, and agreed to his condition. Then Leorio handed him another medicine.

"This ones to help you sleep. I'll hook you up to an IV once you're asleep, I know how much you hate needles."

The sick man took the small cup of medicine and drank it. "That's very considerate of you, thank you Leorio."

"Of course. Now, hurry and fall asleep so we can get you properly hydrated again."

"But im not tired." Kurapika said, despite his eyelids growing heavy. He laid down in the bed.

"Oh, of course not." Leorio snickered, bringing the blanket up to the blond's chin.

"Thank you Leorio. For everything." Kurapika gave him once last smile before the medicine kicked in. Leorio brushed his hair out of his face and smiled fondly at him.

"Sleep well, sunshine."
