Kurapika was smoothing the dark brush over his eyelashes, making them dark and long. It was a bit messy, but nothing he couldn't fix with a Q-tip and a bit of water. He then painted lipstick on, something glossy and only a few shades darker than natural.

He stood back and admired his work; turning his head side to side to check his profile. He looked really good. Pretty, even.

Leorio agreed. He was waiting patiently outside, fully dressed in his formal dress shirt and slacks. Tonight was their anniversary dinner. It was one year from when they moved in together, and they both felt like celebrating.

Kurapika tucked a bit of hair back with a pin, then went out to meet the doctor. "Ready to go?"

"Dear god, look at you." Leorio said breathlessly. "I cannot wait to kiss you so much that makeup smears right off."

"Oh stop it." Kurapika waved it off with a smirk. "We have a reservation to catch."

"Do you have all your stuff?" Leorio asked, twirling his keys and heading for the door.

By 'stuff' he meant lipstick for after dinner, and his mascara because... well, you never know. Kurapika always brought them with him, so he nodded at his boyfriend's inquiry.

Together, they headed out to the car. Leorio was driving again, as always. He held the passenger door open for the blond man, who hurried inside to hide his blushing. It was no secret that Leorio was old-fashioned, and tonight he wanted to showcase his gentlemanliness.

The drive was pleasant, and they shared small talk on the way to the restaurant. They parked nearby, locked the car, then made their way inside while gently swinging their interlocked hands.

The air inside was warm and smelled like spices. It was a homey Italian restaurant that Leorio had chosen as the perfect place to pop The Question.

They were seated at a table for two, and the waiter gave them menus to browse.

"What would you like, dear?" Leorio reached over and held Kurapika's hand while looking at his brochure.

"Im not totally sure. Something light, and not too warm either."

"Pasta salads?" Leorio offered.

They chatted about the menu until the waiter came back. They made their final decisions, handed over their menus, then bid the waiter farewell.

"This place is nice." Kurapika noted.

"Yeah, Zepile is actually one of the lead chefs here. He's not working tonight, but still."

"Zepile, he was the one who went treasure hunting with Gon and Killua?"

Leorio nodded. "The very same."

Kurapika looked up as someone approached their table. It was far too early for the food to be done.

"Excuse me, is your name Laurel?" A woman asked politely.

Kurapika shook his head. "Sorry, you've got the wrong person."

The woman blinked in surprise. She probably wasn't expecting a man's voice.
