{a·nuhs·thee·zhuh: A drug that keeps you from feeling pain during medical procedures} Requested by @Zoldyuk

Leorio sat back calmly. He was a doctor, he knew everything that was going to happen. He had done countless procedures and worked closely with anesthesiologists. He had nothing to worry about.

Kurapika, however, did not trust modern medicine or any of the strangers that were going to be operating on his husband. He wanted to stand between him and the doctors and brandish a broken chair leg as a weapon, warding off anyone who got too close.

"Babe," Leorio held his hand. "Calm down, it's just wisdom teeth. This is like, the safest operation I could possibly be here for, and the safest place I could possibly get it done. I'll be alright."

Kurapika huffed. "This is dumb. Why can't I just do it myself at home?"

Leorio stared at him for a second. "I am not letting you rip out my teeth in our kitchen."

"Dr. Paladiknight?" a nurse asked from the doorway. "They're almost ready to go, so the anesthesia team is here."

"Team?" Leorio raised an eyebrow.

The nurse stepped aside to usher in three people. "They're interns, sir. Just here to watch how it's done."

"Ah, well, I'm happy to help!" Leorio smiled and laid back in his seat.

Kurapika eyed them warily but didn't say anything.

The expert put a mask over Leorio's face, instructing him to take deep breaths. Leorio did as he was told, and Kurapika watched carefully as he relaxed under the influence of the drug. He was blinking slower, his shoulders unwound their tension, and even his forehead creases loosened.

"Doing alright?" The Anesthesiologist asked.

"I'm doing well, but I really think you should've given this to my husband instead." Leorio said.

Kurapika closed his eyes and grimaced. The others were laughing. It had been funny, but it was embarrassing.

"Does your husband not like the dentist?"

"Nope." Leorio popped the 'p.' "Every time he leaves his gums are bloody and swollen. He doesn't even have a single cavity, can you believe that?"

"That is quite impressive."

Leorio looked over and saw Kurapika. "Oh. Yeah, that's him."

Kurapika smiled a bit, and Leorio tugged on the anesthesiologist's sleeve. "His smile. Look at him."

Kurapika turned away, blushing profusely. Leorio! What are you doing?

"Oh, he gets shy when I praise him." Leorio smirked. "He's kind of like a little ray of sun, you see it? It's the hair and the smile. And his body is warm. Like the sun."

"We should um," Kurapika cleared his throat. "Is there anything else you want to say, Leorio?"

"Oh. Is it time already? Sorry about that." His eyes rolled back and he was out.

Kurapika left in a hurry so they could proceed with the operation, and waited patiently in the lobby, sitting on the edge of his seat just in case he heard a scream.

Leorio woke up slowly, even with his eyes open and looking around, he wasn't completely there. Kurapika was sitting next to him in the recovery room, waiting for the clear to go home.

Leorio took Kurapika's hand, and stuck one finger in his mouth. He held eye contact with his very confused husband.

"See? I'm gentle." Leorio said around a mouthful of finger. He growled, but it was lazy and garbled.
