18. ENGLISH

Varian smiled at Cassandra.

"Thanks, Cass. For everything"

Cassandra gave a forced smile "And of what? Now we are friends, right? And soon there will be your wedding, I'm happy for you" Cass said, but the truth was different.

She was sad, and if she and Varian had broken up after years of being engaged, she was to blame and she was to blame for her immense jealousy.

"Yeah.. But Cass, are you okay?"  asked the future bridegroom.

"Me? Yes, I'm fine. Why shouldn't I be fine?"  stammered the girl.

"You know, I'm getting married in a few days and you may still have feelings for me," Varian said.

"No, Varian. And then I'm fine, I assure you" Cassandra said with a fake smile on her face "Now I'm going, Raps will be waiting for me."

"Bye Cass," Varian greeted.

Cassandra was making her sick.  The man she loved and never stopped loving will marry a woman who wasn't her.

Cassandra walked through the streets of Corona crying.  She couldn't go on, not without her love of her life.  Plus Varian since he was with Evelina, her future wife, stopped calling her Cassie. And that hurt her even more.

Cassandra lightly touched her necklace with the Cassandrium that Varian had given her many years ago.  She began to cry even harder and joined Rapunzel, now Queen of the Corona.

"Cass, hi! I know from Eugene that you went to help Varian with the wedding preparations.. How are you?"  Rapunzel asked.

"I... Raps, I feel bad. I shouldn't have let him go.. I had to... control myself. Basically.. I knew that Varian loved me and that my jealousy was unfounded. I was wrong and now I pay the consequences" said Cassandra hugging  her friend.

"Cass, you'll see that everything will work out," the queen said, holding her friend tightly.

It was Varian's wedding day and Cassandra couldn't help but be sadder.  She obviously had been invited, but she decided not to come by making up a stupid excuse to tell Varian.

Suddenly Cassandra had an idea.  She got ready and in less than five minutes she had arrived at the church where the wedding, which had already begun, was to be held.

The priest was celebrating the wedding of Evelina and Varian, when he came up with the fateful sentence.

"Who is against this marriage, speak now or be silent forever"

Cassandra opened the great doors of the church and shouted "Me. I am against this marriage". Everyone present turned to her, including Varian and Evelina.

"Varian, I'm tired of seeing you with a woman who isn't me. I'm tired of crying at night because I lost you. I'm tired of not having you by my side. I'm tired of hearing you call me Cass instead of Cassie. And most of all.  I'm tired of pretending that my love for you is gone, because it isn't. "Some tears fell from Cassandra's green eyes as she slowly approached the altar.

The boy's eyes began to moisten until drops ran down her face.

"I love you Varian, as I've never loved anyone in my entire life" Cassandra knelt, took a box and opened it "And if you still love me, accept this ring and marry me"

"Excuse me Evelina, but I still love Cassandra" he released her hands and walked over to Cassandra.

"Cassie, yes I want to marry you. I never stopped loving you."

Cassandra got up, gave the ring to Varian and they kissed, there, in the church in front of everyone present.

Today is Varian birthday!! Not officially, but so it said. Happy birthday to our favorite alchemist!!
