"And realize there's nothing left to lose.
Cass, trust me, becoming the villain isn't the answer"

"Is that what you think I am?"

It was late at night and Cassandra had gotten out of bed, which she shared with Varian, her husband, to go to the kitchen to drink some water. Those words, those deafening words echoed in Cassandra's head. Years had passed since that event, but every night Cassandra thought about her past.

She thought of her mother's abandonment, she thought of her when she betrayed Rapunzel and took the moonstone, she thought of her when she had allied herself with Zhan Tiri, but what hurt her most was when she trapped Varian in that cage made of black rocks.

"Now I have nothing left to lose"

She too thought of those words spoken to herself, when she, in fact, trapped Varian. And every night since she made amends she felt bad.

Bitter tears came from Cassandra's eyes, as they do every night. She was a girl who never cried, or at least she never cried in the past.
Since she married Varian, however, her life seemed to improve. She had a home, a family, a safe place to stay.

Suddenly she felt two warm and familiar hands gently squeeze her shoulders. Cassandra quickly realized it was Varian and she wiped away some tears with the back of her hand before turning to him.

"Cassie, stop crying, please. Do you think I didn't notice?" Varian asked to his wife.

"No but-"

"No but and tell me what has been bothering you for years. I know something is wrong, I know you very well," Varian said, kissing the burned hand softly.

"I... Uh... Okay. Let's sit down though," Cass said.

"And don't cry anymore, it's not good for the baby or for you," Varian said.

Yes, Cassandra was two months pregnant. After several attempts, she was finally expecting their baby, the fruit of their love.

They headed to the bedroom and Cassandra explained to Varian what had been tormenting her for years now, which was her past, especially her bad past. Her husband listened carefully, not missing a single word. As she spoke, Cassandra began to cry again, but Varian was able to comfort her.

"..and so I'm sorry Varian, I'm so sorry my love. I didn't have to do any of that and I just don't know how you ever forgave me after what I did, especially what I did to you," Cassandra said as she Varian cuddled her gently. Cass's head rested on Varian's shoulder.

"Hey Cassie, my love, don't worry about what you did. Wrong is human and so are you. You apologized and helped defeat Zhan Tiri, you also died to save your kingdom. Cassandra, look me in the eyes.." Varian said making their eyes meet "I love you and I have always loved you, we are also expecting a beautiful baby and nothing you have done will ever and I mean never change how I feel for you. Never" he smiled.

"I love you Var. Thank you for everything you do, thank you for always being by my side, thank you for loving me as I am, thank you for everything"

"I love you too Cassie and I have to thank you for everything"

Husband and wife went back to sleep and from that day Cassandra no longer had any fear of her past.
