It was a special day for Cassandra and Varian.  They were in the Corona hospital because their little daughter would be born in a few hours.  Still, even knowing the sex of the little creature that lived in Cassandra's belly, they hadn't given her a name, but they would have decided it when she was born.
Varian was the more agitated of the two, in short, becoming a dad wasn't an everyday thing.  But not even becoming a mother and, even if Cassandra seemed calm, perhaps in reality she was not at all.

Cass lay in the hospital bed trying to reassure Varian.  “Varian, hey, listen to me.  Everything will be fine, you'll see "

"Cassie… you don't know why I'm really worried," Varian told her beloved who was watching him curiously.

"Come on, talk," Cassandra said.

"The truth is that my mom... she died giving birth to me.. and I would never, ever want something bad to happen to you, to the love of my life," the man said, starting to cry.

"Varian, my love, nothing is going to happen.  I promise you"Cassandra said and she kissed the boy's lips.

After hours of waiting, the first contractions of labor made themselves felt.  Varian called the doctors who had Cassandra taken to the delivery room while her husband held her hand.

It had been three years since Cassandra died after giving birth to their little daughter named Lila.  The woman could only hold her baby for a short time in her arms and looking at her had decided on her name.  She gave her the name of a flower, like the flower Varian gave Cassandra every day.

Varian was more destroyed every day, but he had to be strong for her, for their little girl, for the fruit of a love that lasted too little.
Cassandra was young, she didn't have to go that way, but it was what her fate had decided for her.

"Dad," little Lila called.  It was night and apparently the little girl could not sleep.

"My love, tell me," Varian said, picking up the baby.

"Where is m-mom?"  Varian paled at his daughter's question.  It wasn't the first time Lila had asked this question and Varian promptly didn't know how to answer, but he believed the time had come.

"Well, you know my little.. mom is now a little angel, watching us from the sky and-" Varian started but Lila interrupted him "And why?" the little girl asked.

"Because she gave her… her life for you,” Varian said, starting to cry.

"Daddy, don't cry.  Mom, if she can watch us now, I'm sure she doesn't want to see you crying"

Varian wiped his tears and told her he was right.  Cassandra never wanted to cry for her, but for Varian it was inevitable.  After all, Cassandra was her love for her life.
