A police siren went off behind the four teens while they watched the water, waiting for John B to come back to the surface.

"Shit, JJ," Brenna whispered subtlety tapping the blonde boy on the arm.

"Guys, that's the police," JJ informed the teens.

"Oh, you gotta be kidding me," Pope sighed walking around the boat to get a better view. 

"Yep, that's the police," JJ repeated.

"Just act frickin' normal!" Kiara whisper yelled adjusting herself on the boat beside Brenna where the two decided to sit.

The police siren went off one more time as the boat got closer to the teens. Brenna crossed her legs trying to get more comfortable.

"Evening, officers," Pope tilted his hat towards the officers.

"Evening," the officer nodded as they lined their boat up next to the HMS Pogue.

"JJ, tie it off," Pope suggested.

"How you kids doing? You know the marsh is closed?" the officer said as JJ tied the rope to the boat.

"No"

"Why is it closed?" Pope asked trying to seem casual and trying to stay clam.

"Well, we're conducting a search out here. Boat went down," the officer explained, "Seen anything?"

The officer made eye contact with Brenna, sending a shiver down her spine.

"No. No boats. No," JJ said a little to quickly.

"Where's your friend you always hang with? He here?" the offered asked as he scanned the boat with his eyes.

"He's working," Kiara explained. Brenna nodded from behind the curly haired girl.

"I'm gonna check your little boat out," the officer said as he started to come into the boat.

"Yeah, hop aboard," Pope fake smiled moving out of the way.

The officer did his rounds, making sure there were enough life vests for everyone, and checking for any illegal subsistence. Which shockingly no one had brought.

"Beautiful day," the officer said as he got back onto his own boat.

"Sure is," JJ replied.

"Very," Pope added.

The two girls both shared a look acknowledging how bad the two boys were at acting normal. It was taking everything in Brenna to not break out laughing.

"Let us know if you see anything on your way out," the offer smiled with a nod.

"Will do," Kiara nodded.
