The six teens entered the dark church, door creaking open, the only light being the moon above them, shining in through the glass stained windows and the few flashlights that a couple of them held.

"It's gone," Kiara sighed looking at the floor.

"Damn it!" JJ kicked one of the pillows, filling the air with dust, "I knew I didn't hide it well enough! Damn it!"

"JJ," Brenna sighed watching him basically beat himself up, she put her hand on his shoulder, "You did the best you could"

He ignored her and started pacing the room, "We need a plan"

Brenna let out another defeated sigh, taking a seat on one of the benches, rubbing her face with her hand, Kiara taking a seat on the bench across from her.

"Okay, here's what we do," JJ started plotting, "We'll grab some kerosene tanks from the chat, then we go to my dad's shop and grab some dynamite, and then we drive down to Charleston and tell this lady who she's messing with!"

Brenna lifted her head, looking up at the empty wood where the cross had been.

"Because this is some bullshit, y'all!"

"That's not gonna help," Sarah shook her head.

"Well, what is, Sarah?" JJ snapped.

Brenna moved to lay down on the bench, arms crossed over her eyes as she thought of how to get the cross back, her legs bent.

"I'm thinking, okay?" John B spoke up, standing in the center of the church.

"We can't just go attacking people, JJ," Brenna mumbled against her arms.

"Pope, I'm sorry," JJ tuned towards Pope, who stood at the front of the church.

"Denmark would've stood right here," Pope's voice was low but powerful as he spoke, making everyone turn to look at him, Brenna moving to sit up.

"Preaching to everyone he set free. A slave, the sole survivor of the Royal Merchant, he got the gold and the cross, and he brought them both to shore and used it to free every person who walked through those doors," he pointed at the doors behind his friends.

"He made a church...a family...a congregation," he walked around the podium, "A home. And the Limbrey's took everything from him, they set dogs on his wife and his kids, and when he tried to get her remains, they hung him"

"Well, I'm done. I'm tired of that shit," he walked closer to his friends who all looked and felt defeated, "That is not how this is gonna end. We need a freaking win, guys"

"I'm going to get my family's cross," he walked through his friends, opening the creaky old door.

Brenna and Sarah caught each other's eyes, both with small smiles on their faces.

Pope paused to look back at his friends, "You guys coming?"

"Well, if you put it that way," John B pondered.

"Maybe we should think about it, you know," JJ played along.

"Sorry, this bench is pretty comfy," Brenna teased, laying back down.

"Pros and cons?" John B asked JJ.

"Pros and cons list," JJ agreed.

"Hell yeah, we're coming, Pope!" JJ cheered, drumming a pattern on the boys back before the three boys and Sarah started to exit the church.

"Come on," Kiara smiled down at Brenna, now standing next to her, her hand out for her.

Brenna smiled, putting her hand in Kiara's, pulling herself up as everyone else exited the church.

"Let's go get that cross, baby!" Brenna cheered, her hand in the air, the two girls started towards the door, Kiara taking Brenna's hand in hers.

Kiara let out a small chuckle as they started towards the door, the two of them now alone in the church. Kiara moved her arm around Brenna's shoulders, giving her a kiss on the cheek.

Brenna came to a sudden stop, turning to Kiara, pulling her face to hers, giving her a kiss, one that may have been a little bit longer then it should of been since they were on a mission.

"Okay now we can go," Brenna smiled, her hand still on Kiara's cheek.

A honk came from outside, both girls looking towards the noise.

"They might kill us if we don't," Kiara laughed before the two girls rushed out to the van ready to head to figure eight.

"Oh shit! They found the truck," Kiara groaned, the street in front of them completely blocked off by cop cars.

"Shit," Brenna groaned, sitting on the floor of the van beside Kiara.

"All right, just relax. Just relax," John B sat at the wheel, slowing down.

Shoupe stepped up to the drivers side window, flash light in hand.

"Good evening, officer," John B said politely.

"Sheriff," Shoupe corrected him. Brenna rolling her eyes in the back.

"Sheriff. Yeah, that's right," John B nodded.

"Speed kills, huh?" John B tried to make small talk, gesturing to the truck.

"I pulled the tags, and I know whose truck that is," Shoupe shinned his flash light into the back of the van, finding Kiara immediately, the girl ducking away from the bright light.

"Hey! Kie, you drop your weed pen back there?" Shoupe asked, as she slowly sat back up.

"Found it," she gave a thumbs up, her voice monotone.

"Sheriff, I just wanna say that this is all my fault," Pope leaned forward, "She had nothing to do with this. I take 100% responsibility."

"Nothing to do with it?" Shoupe questioned, looking right at Pope, "You wanna try that again?"

"Your parents reported the truck missing four hours ago," Shoupe looked back at Kiara, "And the keys were missing from the house, I'm taking you home. Or I can pull you all in for leaving the scene of an accident"

"Okay," Kiara sighed.

"Good, Plumb," Shoupe nodded to his officer who opened the van door.

Brenna put her hand on Kiara's before she slipped out, as if to say sorry.

"Hit me up later and make sure I'm still alive," she looked right at Brenna who moved to lean against the back bench of the van. Brenna nodded.

"What now?" Brenna asked quietly.

"To Tannyhill," Sarah looked down at her, and that's exactly where John B directed the van.
