The next day after school Brenna met up with the pogues in town, she had told her Uncles she was studying at the library.

"This is the north drain, it should've gotten washed into the gully," JJ explained as they walked off the road and into the dirt, "So if it got flushed from this drain it would've been pushed out to like," he looked around.

"Somewhere in this trash," Pope finished his sentence, everyone looking at the trash filled water, the boys moving to stand in it.

"Correct," JJ nodded.

"Oh my god, people who use plastic should be shot," Kiara sighed looking at all the trash.

"Personally, I love plastic, use it everyday, love the stuff," JJ teased, making Brenna laugh. Kiara glared over at the girl beside her.

"Sorry, not funny," Brenna bit her cheek trying not to smile.

"I though you'd say something like that so," Pope dug in his pocket, "Trash bags"

"Did you just proactively protect the environment?" Kiara smiled.

"Maybe," Pope and Kiara made eye contact, smiling.

JJ and Brenna pretend to throw up at the two, each for different reasons.

Pope handed out a trash bag to everyone so the could all help clean up, which took longer than any of them wanted to.

"Well, that was fun," JJ said sarcastically had he handed a full bag of trash up to Brenna.

"Best part of my day," she played along, only half joking.

The ocean was one of her favorite things so of course she wanted to save it, but right now they had other things to do.

"If its not in the trash then it's gotta be in the storm drain," Pope shrugged, standing in front of the opening.

"It's in the drain," JJ nodded.

"Of course it is," Brenna squatted down, wiping sweat from her forehead.

JJ started to dig in his bag for something to open the gate.

"So are we gonna do like rock paper scissor?" Kiara looked at her friends, "Or alphabetically? Or like oldest goes?"

The boys ignored her as they worked on getting the gate open.

"In the sewer there's this worm that you get when you're down there," JJ started, "It gets into your blood and then it has to come out your pecker, so uh that would be a hard pass for me"

"That gonna be a no for me," Pope nodded.

Kiara and Brenna looked at each other.

"Rock, paper, scissors?" Kiara put out her hands to play.

"I'll do it," Brenna slipped the ponytail holder off her wrist and tied her hair up into a messy bun, "Plus my family can pay for the worm to be removed"

"And its cute y'all are scared," she shrugged making her way down to the sewer opening, the boys protested.

"They're scared," Kiara nodded, putting out her hand, helping Brenna down the hill side.
