"And what makes you think you could be a part of our show, "  the woman in flamboyant clothes asked, "Show me what makes you a freak."

I nodded my head and took a deep breath. Ms. Elsa's eyes followed as I stood out of my chair.  I didn't like showing off my 'gift', as my mother liked to call it, but I needed work and desperately. I had come down to Jupiter, Florida to find work and start a new life. No one else wanted to hire me giving as they noticed my  'talents' and it had come to my last resort. Joining the freak show and exploiting myself. I hated just the thought of it, but when times get tough, you have to put your pride to the side.

I took off my glove and showed Mrs. Elsa my deformed right hand. All of my fingers were conjoined together, from my thumb to my picky. My left hand on the other hand was perfectly fine. Ms. Elsa smiled at my imperfection, she expressed even more excitement when I took off my shoes. I had been born with webbed toes.

And just like that, I had been hired at the Freakshow. Ms. Elsa gave me a tour of the place, introducing me to everyone with who we crossed paths. Everyone was kind and friendly. They seemed so happy to be where they were no matter the judgment that got thrown their way. It made me feel more comfortable with being there. Our last stop was a trailer.

"I haven't gotten your trailer yet, but I want you to stay in this one until further notice, " Elsa informed, "It is occupied already, but giving as you and him have a similarity, I feel you'll be more comfortable with him."

Him. She was letting me stay with a boy? That idea seemed very foolish, but I wasn't going to question her though seeing as I had just got this gig. I wasn't trying to lose it. Elsa knocked softly on the trailer door. I was very nervous. I couldn't believe that I was about to have and meet my new temporary roommate. Who just so happened to be a guy? What had my life come to?

The door slowly opened revealing a handsome young man in a wife-beater and some slacks. He looked to be around my age, but I couldn't get across the gloves on his hands. A huge grin formed across his face.

"Afternoon, Elsa," the man smiled, "What can I do for you?"

"Well, Jimmy, " Elsa stated, "We have a new member of the family. This is Y/n. She doesn't have a trailer yet so I decided she could share with you until we get her one."

Jimmy looked away from Elsa and gazed at me for a while. A smirk appeared on his face as he did so. His eyes were so beautiful, I had to look away to stop myself from getting lost in them. Jimmy looked back to Elsa.

"I have no problem with that, " Jimmy said, "She's a part of the family now."

"Excellent, " Elsa cheered, "Now make sure you make her feel comfortable and at home. She's not used to being in show biz."

"You got it, Ms. Elsa, " Jimmy winked at her.

"Good," Elsa clapped, "I will see you all later tonight. If you need anything I will be in my tent."

Elsa walked off leaving me alone with the man standing in the doorway.

"Come on in, Doll, " Jimmy smirked, "Make yourself at home."

I took a deep breath as he grabbed my hand led me up the steps into the mobile home. Jimmy quickly sat down on his bed after shutting the door behind us.

"It's not much, " he started, "But I hope it's good enough."

"It's fine, thank you for letting me stay here, " I said softly.

"You don't have to thank me, Doll," Jimmy chuckled, "You're family now and family always looks out for each other."

I nodded my head as I began to look around his trailer.

"You can sit down if you'd like, " he added, "I won't bite."

I had just been awkwardly standing in front of the doorway and my legs were aching from the tour Elsa had given me. I quickly took Jimmy up on his offer and sat beside him.

"You're not a talker are you, " Jimmy continued to speak.

I shook my head at him.

"Yeah, I kind of figured, " he responded, "I don't know why cause you have a beautiful voice."

I tried to conceal the smile on my face. Jimmy noticed.

"Beautiful smile too, " he smiled at me, "So tell me, what's a beauty like you doing here?"

I sadly looked down at the gloves on my hands and my shoes. Jimmy could tell I was nervous about showing off my deformities.

"Look, I'll show you mine if you show me yours, " he said, "I don't want you to feel like you're alone."

I nodded my head as I began to take off my shoes and socks. Showing him my webbed toes. Jimmy's eyes lit up.

"I've never seen anything like that before, " He gasped, "They're adorable."

I started to feel a lot better. The only other person who had ever called my condition adorable was my mother. Jimmy started to make me feel more at home. Before I could take off my gloves, Jimmy removed his. My jaw fell open.

"Here's what I got, " Jimmy said, "I know it's horrid."

I shook my head at him.

"No, it's not, " I spoke again, "Look."

I quickly took off my gloves and showed Jimmy my right hand. Jimmy smiled at the sight. I finally understood why Elsa said we had similarities now.

"So you were born with conjoined fingers too, huh, " Jimmy grinned.

I nodded my head rapidly. Excited that I had finally met someone who had a similar condition as my own.

"You're adorable, " Jimmy chuckled, "You're like half girl half duck. I'm gonna call you, Duckie."

Jimmy then jumped off of the bed, "Yes. That'll be your stage name. The Adorable Duckie. You've got the duck wing and the feet, not to mention your adorable face and your voice is enough to make anyone fall in love. The crowd is gonna love you, you're just too cute not to love."

I smiled at the nickname Jimmy at just given me. Duckie. It had a ring to it. Jimmy plopped back onto the bed. I also could stop smiling at the massive compliments Jimmy had just given me.

"Do you have any other talents," Jimmy asked.

I nodded my head at him.

"Let me hear, " Jimmy insisted.

I took a deep breath and started to sing a lullaby that my mother used to sing to me. I watched Jimmy smile like a kid in a candy store, giving me a standing ovation as I finished.

"Duckie," Jimmy smiled at me, "You're gonna be a showstopper."

"Do you honestly think so, " I questioned.

"Oh, Doll, " Jimmy said as he grabbed my face, "I know so."
