Music blared through the speakers as Summer, Ash, Luke, and I set up for tonight's game night. They were more than excited to host this one since I was the one to suggest it but also bewildered when I said I wanted to invite Kai. I even promised that I wouldn't kill him, so they were thrilled. I rushed to the door immediately after the doorbell rang and welcomed our guests. Kai walked in, but this time, he had brought Winter. I wondered if she was a part of the plan because Winter did not mess around about harassment. If Kai had told her what happened, I wouldn't be surprised if Shawn and Chris died tonight.
Our plan went smoothly as everyone lost their minds during Charades, completely totaled as Kai had brought a ton of alcohol for the party- and some of his 'happy' supply. Everyone was so high out of their minds that they never questioned Kai and me as we walked upstairs together, which usually would've caused a stir, but Kai was smart enough to bring Winter, who distracted Summer. Ash was so drunk that he could barely use his brain. Luke said he felt like he was in another dimension; he was so high I was surprised he didn't float. Game night was a success, and our alibi was set.
Kai and I reached my room and locked the door behind us.
"Wait- what if they come up here looking for us," I asked.
Kai looked around my room before going toward my nightstand. I had a stereo because sometimes it's just nice to pretend you're still in the past.
"Where do you keep your CDs," he questioned.
"Second drawer. Why," I responded.
Kai rummaged through my CD collection in the drawer. He had a plan, but I needed to know what it was because this had nothing to do with the original plot.
"I'm trying to find something that sounds erotic- or romantic. Whatever fits your taste. You seem more like a mix," he explained.
"What the hell do you mean by that- and wait, why? Are you trying to make it seem like we're having sex in here? What the fuck, Kai," I questioned.
"Pretty much, and why'd you say it like that? Would having people think you fucked me honestly be that terrible, Y/n," he asked.
He stopped his search to give me a puzzled look. I was not going to answer that or think about it.
"What does that have to do with anything we're doing here, Kai," I exclaimed.
"Everyone downstairs would think we're still here- just busy. They won't question it when they realize we're gone," he informed.
"Oh, right. That is smart," I admitted.
"Of course it is, Y/n. You're sexy, but I'm not that desperate," he snickered.
"Fuck you," I spat.
"Let me find the right album first," he joked.
I moved him out of the way and searched for myself. I knew my music catalog, so it didn't take much time. I grabbed the CD case and placed the disc in the stereo.
"Here. It's 'Late Nights' by Jeremih. You can't help but get pregnant to album," I stated.
"Nice. It seems like you know your stuff, Y/n. Are you speaking from experience," he interrogated.
"Yeah. The experience of uncomfortable barbeques where my drunk uncle danced around telling me, 'I don't know nothing bout this jam right here,'" I responded.
"Yep, and that ruined the mood," he sighed.
"As it does. Should we head out now," I suggested.
My window was pretty high, but there was a tree branch I could grab onto to lower me down. It was perfect if you needed to sneak out. I'd use it whenever Ash's bible belt parents come to visit. They want to convert everyone who lives in this house. It's not happening. I did the honors and showed Kai how to get down from there, hopping onto the heavy end of the branch and then slowly moving my way over to the lighter end so it would lower me toward the ground; he leaped, missed, and landed into a pile of leaves, swearing as he did so. Thank Goodness it was autumn. I facepalmed as I watched him get up and dust himself off.
