The man beside me and I never spoke to each- at least in front of the rest of the world. Evan and I had met at an indie film festival a few months before- after ducking off for a couple of hours. I'd say we both hit it off, but due to us both auditioning for a role in the same movie Evan and I had to be strangers.
This lifestyle came with a lot of eyes- watchers who wanted to know every last move we made- Evan and I agreed that it was best to keep us private- we preferred to live life without the rumors, judgment, and harassment, so it was best this way, but as soon as we both left whatever event we were both attending, the two of us couldn't keep our hands off of each other; it was easy at first, but the game was more complicated now.
The sound of my phone ringing woke us up as we squirmed under the sheets in search of my device, he had found it first, and without thinking, he answered it.
"Hello," he slurred.
"Evan," my My friend's voice gasped from the other end.
Our eyes shot open, and we panicked; they couldn't know we were a thing,
"Hello," she continued, "Earth to Evan."
"Uh-my name is Bill," he responded, "Who's Evan?"
I snatched the phone out of his hand.
"Hey, sorry that was my cousin," I lied, "What's up?"
"Do you know what time it is, Y/n," she continued, "You're late, Y/n. The premiere started 25 minutes ago; Where are you?"
"Oh, shit- I didn't realize how long I was out," I gasped.
I hopped out of bed and began scrambling my clothes off the floor.
"I'm so sorry I was super exhausted last night," I sighed.
"You're welcome, by the way," Evan chuckled.
I shot him a death glare and flipped him off as I slipped back into my pants.
"You're lucky you're not the only one late," she continued, "They are looking for Evan too."
"Who," I responded, "Oh, wait- the one with the dimples- I forgot he existed."
Evan rolled his eyes as he slipped on his shirt.
"Have y'all tried calling him," I asked?
"Yeah, but it all goes straight to voicemail," she answered, "If you hear from him, let him know he needs to be here- the director is freaking out."
I know they had to be suspicious.
"Alright, I gotta get ready, so I'll call you back," I said and hung up.
"Evan, why aren't your calls going through," I questioned.
"I turned off my phone last night so we wouldn't be interrupted," he admitted, "I guess I forgot to turn it back on."
"Damn it," I sighed, "I have to stop at my place and get ready; I will see you in 20."
"See you in 20."

I strolled over to my friend after my red carpet-photos were taken.
"Nice of you to show up," she huffed.
"I'm so sorry, Marrissa," I apologized, "I know you hate me right now."
"Hate is a strong word," Marrissa said, "Want to drag you across this carpet- that is a better phrase; what were you doing last night anyway?"
"Oh- uh, Zumba," I lied, "I got a couple of fitness videos from Walmart, and I'm thinking of trying action roles- I figured I should build my stamina, you know?"
