Every other student did a double-take as Kyle and I walked beside each other on campus. Kyle was a part of one of the hottest fraternities at our university, so he'd turned heads everywhere we went, but he wasn't the only some sort of notoriety. When you had the attitude I had, you didn't need to be in a sorority to have everyone know who you were. Not to mention, I held the title of the most complicated girl to get with on campus, which brought multiple pursuers. It would only be a matter of time before it went through the grapevine.
Our campus library had the same amount of action Kyle gave me. None. With rarely any souls lingering around, the place felt like a crypt. The ones who were here were stressed enough to pass on. The light did not seem worth following, and neither did the degree. Kyle and I sat across from each other, sharing his notes and selling our souls to the words on the pages, and the more he spoke, the more I wanted him. With every word, I learned that his dreaminess wasn't even the cherry on the cake. He was intelligent and an incredible listener, plus he bought us both coffee.
"Hey, Earth to Y/n. Come back to me," Kyle said.
The sound of his annoyed voice brought me back to reality
"Sorry, I was in my head," I apologized.
"Do you only daydream and doze off? Were you even listening to me," he ridiculed.
"At first, I was. Then I looked at you for too long, and my mind wandered," I admitted.
"I don't even want to know what you were thinking about," he expressed.
"I'm positive we would get kicked out of the library if I said what I was thinking about," I reassured.
Kyle scoffed as he reviewed his notes to repeat whatever I had missed.
"Well, I was saying that...," he started.
The aura in the building changed for the worse as a group entered the building that could be heard from the entrance, earning a 'Be quiet' from the librarian. Kyle stopped mid-sentence as his attention went to the source of the sound. Before I knew it, a group of guys approached our table.
"What's up, guys," Kyle greeted.
Kyle stood up and greeted them with a hand symbol before attempting to introduce me.
"Hey, Y/n, these are my frat brothers," he introduced.
I may have seemed rude as I nodded and brought attention to his notes, ignoring any chances for them to speak to me. Kyle was great, but the rest of these guys were known to bring trouble, so I needed him to hurry up and tell them we were busy so they could leave.
"What are you guys doing here," Kyle questioned.
"We came to see if the rumors were true," one of them stated.
"What rumors, Archie," Kyle asked.
"Oh, right. I guess we're acting confused. Guys, play dumb," Archie mocked.
The rest of them laughed in sync, resulting in the librarian loudly shushing them again and all making fun of her silently for doing her job. God, how could he tolerate these motherfuckers. They were absolute dicks. It made me wonder if Kyle was the same way, but then his sweetheart mode unlocked as he told them off.
"Guys chill, she's just doing her job," he declared.
"Awe, we're sorry. We forgot you're a bitch boy. You like to follow the rules," one guy teased.
The others quietly laughed together, and the fact that Kyle was letting him run over him like this pissed me off. He was undoubtedly the ripe apple in a batch of rotten fruit.
