It was oddly silent when I entered the Anderson house today. Most of the other members would say this was a good thing, but that's because they weren't as attentive as I was. The silence was terrifying and typically signified that Kai was downstairs plotting something. Nothing was more terrifying than one of our divine ruler's plans, primarily because we'd never know who he'd toss out to the wolves. Lately, more people revolted against his unstable desires; evidently, he'd begun to become more anxious because of it. He was the leader, and we were his followers who worshiped his every command; we had no right to refuse. Kai considered us to all be a family. When you rebelled against him, you betrayed the family. Death was the only outcome of betrayal- or suffering, but that's only if you're Beverly. However, at this rate, she wishes Kai would kill her.
I walked down the basement steps and found a haunting scene. Our dear leader was in his thinking stance as he sat on the couch. He was so heavy in thought that he hadn't noticed the static playing on the television. If the white noise failed to be enough to drop his concentration, whatever he was planning would be enormous. I didn't want to ruin his creative genius, so I decided not to interrupt him. I was unsure if he noticed I had come down there, anyway.
Some hours flew by when I walked back down the steps with sloppy joes and a beer. They were his favorites, and he deserved his favorite meal for all the hard work he did for us. Besides, he needed more fuel for his brain with all the thinking he had been doing all day. I'd expected Kai to have gotten up by now, but whatever thought he had captivated him for so long that he was in another dimension. I wondered how important it must have been or how much it would influence the cult- and who'd be the sacrifice to achieve his mission?
Kai was still in the same spot, pondering- I would've thought he'd died if he hadn't changed his seating position. If Kai had one follower who would always be by his side, it would be me. My devotion to him was profound. I'd do anything he asked of me without a second thought. He had complete control over me, and everyone knew it- that is how I got the nickname 'Puppet.' The name was perfectly fitting, especially with how he pulled at my heartstrings. Little did he know it.
Maximum concentration had to be impossible with that screeching sound roaring from the television. That had to be the reason he had been thinking for so long. I placed his meal on the coffee table and turned down the annoying sound. He could thank me later- but only if he wanted to. I expected nothing in return from my dear leader because everything I did for him was out of appreciation for all he'd done for me.
"Thank you, Y/n," Kai spoke.
His voice startled me a little before I turned to face him. His attention wasn't on the television anymore; his eyes followed every movement I made.
"Anything for you, Divine Ruler," I responded, "I apologize if I've distracted you."
"No need. You're not interrupting anything. You're just the person I wanted to see," he expressed, "Come sit down."
I followed his orders as usual and walked toward him. To my surprise, he grabbed me by my waist and pulled me onto his lap. It took me for a huge surprise, but I didn't question it. I didn't want to show him any signs of disrespect by challenging his practices. Instead, I pretended I hadn't noticed. I crossed my legs and placed my hands on my lap.
"I've made you sloppy joes," I spoke, "And the store ran out of Bud Light, so I had to settle for Budweiser. I do apologize for that. I should've gone to the store in time."
I swallowed as he placed his rough hand on mine. His touch stimulated me as I began to have impure thoughts, but I couldn't think of such ideas about our divine ruler. I needed to give him my undivided attention- sometimes, I wondered if he knew the effect that he had on me. My body was always tense, but when he touched me, I felt comfortable. He helped me relax. I wanted to do the same for him in return and sought to help him forget his anxiety and his tension, and I'd do whatever I could to help.
