I stood outside of the building waiting to talk to our newest city councilman, Kai Anderson. I had very important issues to discuss with him involving our city as a whole. Ever since he got elected, our city has gotten worse. The crime rate has increased, the education system has started to fail the children even more than it's already been doing, and don't even get me started on the crimes against women, people of color, and people of the LGBT+. You'd think Donald Trump was bad enough, but now he has his little pawns doing his dirty work for him. Specifically, this blue-haired psychopath.

I sat up from the edge of the steps as I heard footsteps coming from behind me. I turned around and there was the exact man I was looking for. He wore a fitted blue suit and his hair in a bun. He was tall, pale, and handsome. I couldn't help but stare, I think he noticed by the way smiled at me. His presence was enough to make me swoon, but I wasn't going to. He's a danger to society. Right as he was about to walk by me I called out to him.

"Councilman Anderson, hi. I'm Y/n L/n, " I uttered, "I've been wanting to speak to you about the changes in our community."

He smirked, "You know, Y/n, I'm a very busy man, but I think a spot in my schedule just opened up. What would you like to discuss?"

I cleared my throat. I had practiced for this moment all week. All my points and arguments were memorized but when you're standing in front of a man that looks like Kai Anderson, it's pretty hard to keep your ground. After a deep breath, I snapped out of my lovestruck trance and pulled out my recorder.

"Our community is becoming extremely dangerous, " I stated, "Crime rates are flowing through the roof, there's a murderous clown cult, and hate has started flooding through our town even more than before. I'm not saying the city was perfect, of course, it had its flaws, but ever since you got elected into office the city has become a circus. What will you be doing to solve this problem, especially with the knowledge that you, yourself, are the cause of this problem?"

"I'm the cause of the problem, " Kai snickered, "And what makes you say that?"

"Your campaign says it all, " I folded my arms, "Fear runs the world. That ideology is arrogant, dangerous, and idiotic. That's the ideology of a psychopath. If not, one of a cult leader. Have you ever watched The Purge?"

"Yes, I've seen it, " he nodded.

"Then you should be able to compare the similarities between that movie and your campaign. They gave sickos what they wanted and they reigned havoc, " I ranted, "But you should be able to realize that if you allow the wrong people to have certain power all hell will break loose. By you encouraging fear, you're encouraging the evil people in this world to continue to terrorize and bring fear unto others, and by electing you into this office they've encouraged you to spread your lack of common sense."

I was ready for whatever stunt he would try to pull. I've seen him lose his mind and start yelling at his 'haters' on multiple occasions, he does it every council meeting. I had prepared myself for the plethora of insults that were going to be thrown my way. Instead, Kai did the exact opposite of what I was expecting. He smiled at me.

"You're you very passionate about this. I can tell, " Kai glared, "It's refreshing seeing someone as passionate about this city as I am. Especially, someone so young. The youth is our future."

"I'm twenty, I'm not a child, " I pointed out as I put away my recorder.

"And I'm thirty, " Kai replied, "That's a child to me."

The man in front of me was thirty? I would have never known. His looks were way too young for his age. Kai stepped closer to me.

"And also you made some valid point about the campaign, " Kai admitted, "My fellow council members and I are looking to fix everything now. You know you intrigue me, Y/n. You're well-spoken and quite an intelligent woman. I could use someone like you on my team. You could be the change in my campaign. You could lead us down the right path. You could help us fix the mess we've caused with your way of words."

Kai stuck out his pinky finger at me.

"You could save this city, we just have to make a deal, " Kai continued, "Will you join us?"

Something about that whole deal seemed fishy, but I wrapped my finger around his. Kai began to smile almost menacingly.

"Great, you will join us officially tonight, " Kai grinned as he began to write on a piece of paper that he had torn out of his notebook, "Here is my address. Come around 7 o'clock and remember once you're a part of my team, you're a part of it forever."

I watched as the handsome man made his way to the bottom of the steps, shooting me a wink as he walked off. Kai was nothing like I expected him to be. I guess I judged him too quickly.
