Indeed, Taehyun was surprised to find out that he's in the same class as Jay. But he seemed even more surprised that he's also in the same class as Heejin. The only difference is, he actually feels a lot better knowing he's in the same class as the PIO. And what made him feel even better is the fact that his seat is situated far from the troublemaker. But that would also mean far from Heejin, since Jay turned out to be her seatmate.
"So, what's the deal between you and that new kid?" Jay asks Heejin while he vandalizes his own desk, writing whatever comes to mind just to cure his boredom.
Heejin glances towards him in the middle of her setting up her desk for their first class before she looks back at her notes. "What do you mean? He's the new kid. I'm the PIO. And I'm just doing my job of giving him the relevant information he needs to survive in this mess of a school."
An unconvinced scoff escapes Jay before he speaks again, his eyes still on his desk. "And I suppose taking care of him is also part of your job?"
At this, the girl suddenly drops her pencil case, spilling all the pens and pencils in it, and she lets out an exasperated sigh before she bends down to pick it up. "Oh, please don't. Heeseung-oppa forced me into doing that, and I'm just doing it so he would stop with his aegyo attempts," she tells him while rolling her eyes and picking up all her pens and placing them in her case while counting.
Jay then breathes out a laugh as he looks down at her. "Really? Are you sure that's not your brother rushing you to get a boyfriend?" he asks mischievously and Heejin looks up at him with furrowed brows.
"You think? I don't think Oppa would be that keen to let me date just some random new kid that came in just today," she tells him before she continues what she's doing.
"Yeah, but I heard he came from a prestigious school, though," Jay says, and Heejin's ears immediately perk up at the information. "Just don't know why he just suddenly transferred here, though."
"And where'd you get that information?" she asks him as she looks up at him and Jay glances towards her before smirking and looking back at his own business.
"Rich people stuff," he just says, and Heejin rolls her eyes before she turns back to the floor.
"Is that you indirectly boasting about your family's financial status again? Then why, may I ask, are you here?" she asks as she picks up a red-ink pen and pats off the dust on it.
Jay just breathes a laugh again before he lifts his gaze and just looks ahead, a slight smirk on his face. "Why don't you try to find out yourself, Little Miss Know-it-all?" he asks as he turns his gaze to her.
"No, thank you. I have other better things to do rather than dig into the history of our school's problematic rich kid," Heejin says without looking at him. Then, her brows furrow when she notices something. "Wait... where's-" She stops when Jay suddenly holds a black-ink pen infront of her face, and the girl's eyes widen before she looks up at him with furrowed brows and tightened lips.
"What?" he asks as he looks at her with an amused smirk, and Heejin just takes the pen from him before getting back on her seat and recounting her pens.
"Twelve... thirteen... fourteen and... fifteen. Yup, that's all."
"Why do you have so many pens, anyway? And you keep struggling everytime you drop your pencil case, it's such a hassle," Jay asks while looking at his seatmate's half-full pencilcase.
"Mind your own business, Jay. Your nosing in on mine is pissing me off. And I might not have any information about you I can sell, but I can still beat you up really badly if you piss me off too much," Heejin tells him as she finally zips her pencilcase up and stretches out her arms while leaning back on her chair.
