Ch. 4: Lunch With the Brothers

"Jinwoo! Oppa!" The girl shouts as soon as they're within hearing range and the two boys turn to her, their faces eventually lighting up at the sight of her.

"Heejin-ah!" Heeseung greets his younger sister with zeal, only to be ignored when the girl turns to her younger brother instead, the very latter of which is frowning intensely due to his older brother's nonstop whining since several minutes ago.

"Noona! Thank goodness, you're here! Hyung really won't stop acting cute at all since a while ago," he complains.

Heejin just rolls her eyes before adding something. "Oh, please. He's been at it since this morning while giving me errands."

The two siblings then glare towards their oldest who laughs nervously as he places his hand on the back of his head...

Then Jinwoo turns towards the boy standing behind his sister, his arm being held by the girl. "By the way, noona... who is this guy?"

Heejin's attention shifts back to him, then she turns to Taehyun who is still standing behind her and waiting for her to let go of his arm. She only smiles mischievously at him before jerking on his arm and turning back to her younger brother. "He's my errand."

"Oh," Jinwoo replies, eventually turning back to his plate. A second later, however, his eyes widen when he seems to realize something, and he quickly turns back to his sister. "Wait, he's eating with us?!"

"Yeah?" Heejin then replies with her brow raised. "Why? You got a problem with him?"

Jinwoo, still with wide eyes, turns to Taehyun (who responds by looking awkwardly), then he looks back towards Heejin with the same expression while pointing towards Taehyun. However, before he could even speak, the girl goes ahead and speaks with her brows furrowed at the younger.

"Be nice. I'll just go get lunch for myself first," she tells Jinwoo. "Heeseung's watching, too, so don't be a brat around Taehyun."

Jinwoo folds his arms and pouts, then Heejin pats Taehyun's shoulder before she leaves, soon leaving him with her brothers... and with an awkward silence looming over them.

Eventually, Heeseung decides to start a conversation with the new kid. "So... how'd your first day been so far?" he asks while smiling cheekily at Taehyun.

A confused and uncomfortable look forms on Taehyun's face as he eyes the older boy, and soon Heeseung realizes what's wrong.

"Ah! Of course," he says, lightly hitting his forehead with his palm as if he just remembered something important. "I haven't introduced myself properly, yet!" he then says as he turns back to Taehyun, soon smiling formally and holding his hand out for a handshake. "I'm Lee Heeseung. President of the school council; Vocalist-leader of Zenith, that's the school band, by the way; and member of the dance club. I also happen to be the one who had assigned Heejin to watch over you. I see you haven't had a single stain land on your uniform yet. She's doing a great job, no?"

This time, Taehyun seems taken aback by Heeseung's non-stop talking. But after a while of shock, he eventually manges to open his mouth to respond. "Uh... yeah, I guess. She's doing really well..." he says, still feeling rather awkward as he shakes Heeseung's outstretched hand.

Then the latter starts again once they had let go of each other's hands. "Oh, by the way, can you sing or play any musical instruments? Can you dance well? If you can do any of those things, it would be great to have you join the band or the dance club! Jay's always been nagging me about getting a new member for the d-"
