Ch. 55: What It Takes to Win

"Jinwoo?!"

Was Sohee lucky because she was saved by the person she had been meaning to talk to? Or was she unlucky because she had been found by one of the seekers?

Well, it's highly fortunate, indeed, that someone actually found her and saved her in time. Still, now Sohee can't even tell if her heart is still pounding from the adrenaline she got after almost getting crushed by the boulder a while ago or if it's because she somehow ended up in Jinwoo's embrace after all that.

Jinwoo doesn't seem to notice, though. In fact, if anything, he seems to have forgotten that they were on opposite teams, and that he was supposed to capture Sohee and put a mark on her wrist. Instead of doing any of that, the boy remains smiling as he holds Sohee close, glad that he could make it in time to save her from harm. "You okay? Thank goodness, you got out in time, otherwise I wouldn't know what to do if something happened to you!"

He still seemed to prioritize Sohee, even until now. It makes sense that the girl would be confused as to why her heart is pounding.

"J-Jinwoo..." Sohee mumbles, her face completely hot now as she realizes the awkward position. She places her hand on the boy's shoulder and slightly pushes him, alerting Jinwoo and quickly making him let go immediately.

"O-oh, right! Sorry, I didn't mean to-" He stammers as he lets go of Sohee and moves back to give her space, but the girl quickly assures him.

"N-no, it's okay!" Sohee holds her hands up, before pausing and looking away as she holds her arm. "I... Uhm, thanks... for saving me... back there. I can't even imagine what would have happened if you didn't come here..."

"Oh, no worries! I'm just really, really glad you came out safe!" Jinwoo smiles, a pure and genuine one which confuses Sohee yet again as she watches him.

"He's such a weirdo, always caring about everyone else and always smiling like an idiot..." She wonders to herself, before another thought occurs to her and she then furrows her brows. "By the way... aren't you gonna stamp my wrist or something now that you've found me?"

Jinwoo's smile doesn't falter. "No."

And Sohee widens her eyes at the gesture. "H-huh?!"

As the timer's hands tick by with every passing second, the rest of Sohee's teammates, along with their captors wait at the camp, looking towards the mountains for any sign of who could be coming out soon.

Is it going to be just Jinwoo, who had failed to find Sohee and would soon be followed by her later on after the timer goes off?

Is it going to be just Sohee, who must have decided to run back to the camp as the timer is about to end to save herself from being captured?

Or is it going to be the both of them, with Jinwoo surely having captured Sohee by that point, ensuring the victory of the seekers' team?

"Wonder why they're taking so long. What do you think they could be doing, Jungwon?" Wiggling his eyebrows, Riki nudges Jungwon who stands beside him, the latter of which still isn't happy about the fact that Riki really got to him in the end. And now, he's even teasing him with Jungwon and Sohee both being out there alone... probably even together with just the two of them.

"Oh, shut up, Nishimura!" Jungwon shoves him away in return, a deep frown now on his face as he looks towards the forests. "Ugh, seriously! What's taking them so long to arrive, anyway?!"

"Oh, but I think I already know the outcome, though." This time, Riki looks to the side forlornly while dropping his shoulders, and in return, Jungwon and his teammates look to him in confusion.
