Ch. 46: Heartbreak Before Dating

A month had passed since the incident concerning Go Jinhee's private life.

Most things have gone back to normal. As Jay had predicted, Jinhee's aunt arriving to their school would get rid of almost all the bullying Jinhee suffered. And now Jinhee was even starting to become nicer to other kids, and with that Heejin just hoped she wouldn't try to trick the next new student again.

On the other hand, a few other things have changed, too.

And in the household of the Lee family, on a certain Monday afternoon, Heeseung and Heejin are sitting on the couch in the living room, eating ice cream while watching tragic romance movies.

All while Jinwoo watches them from the side with his arms folded and an unimpressed expression on his face. "Ha... Love is so complicated. And that's exactly why I'm single!"

"No one asked," Heejin tells him as she digs into her ice cream bucket and takes out a big scoop before shoving it in her mouth.

"And don't lie because we all know you like that teddy bear girl you invited for our New Year's party last time," Heeseung says in turn.

And almost immediately, Jinwoo's face heats up, before he scowls at his older siblings. "Hey! I wasn't the one who invited her! It was Riki!"

"Yeah, you still like her, anyway," Heejin replies, and Jinwoo replies with a red face.

"I do NOT!"

Jinwoo's two older sibling remain unconvinced, however, as they just nod and showing their thoughts on their faces before they sigh at the same time, taking another big scoop in their ice cream buckets before putting the scoop in their mouths.

At the same time, theit mother enters the room, looking curious, but at the same time, also looking somewhat amused by the spectacle lying before her. "Now what's this about?" she asks Jinwoo as she stands beside the boy.

Jinwoo sighs out loud before he replies. "It's the usual for Heeseung-hyung with his crush with a terrible boyfriend, and as for Heejin-noona... she just realized she has a crush."

"Oh?" Mrs. Lee asks as her eyes widen, looking towards Heejin as a playful smile forms on her face. And then the girl suddenly starts sobbing, just as the movie they're watching shows the male lead finding a letter in his locker.

In the next second, Heejin suddenly starts full-on crying, pulling out a tissue box seemingly out of nowhere while all others in the room look at her with questioning eyes.

Just what exactly happened that led to Lee Heejin becoming like this?

"Oh, shut up, Jay."

It was just a few days ago when Heejin found herself in such a confusing situation, watching Kang Taehyun from afar while Jay eventually came up to her to make her realize the truth.

Which, of course, she was still too stubborn to accept.

Still, perhaps it wouldn't be too long before she might start realizing it, especially now that Taehyun's starting to become really popular after delivering a speech during a recent student assembly.

"Ugh, and I thought everyone hated him since he came in," Heejin mutters to herself as she watches Taehyun enter through the main gate of the school, before a bunch of students suddenly pop up from different areas, watching him as he walks. Rather clearly, Taehyun seems to get uncomfortable really quickly as his steps slow down and his movements become gingery.
