Crackle! Boom!
The rain only got worse the next day. And as a result, not only was school suspended. The festival was cancelled along with it. Much to the dismay of all the students.
"Ugh, this sucks!" Heejin groans as she leans back onto her bed, seconds after peering out the window to see that not only had the rain worsened, thunder and lightning strikes have joined in on the weather as well.
Later on, the door soon opens, and Heeseung pokes his head inside. "Hey. Wanna have some hot choco? Jinwoo and I are having some in the kitchen."
Heejin looks towards him, tilting her head back to meet her brother's eyes. And after a few seconds of silence, she wordlessly gets up and walks to the door. Heeseung, having gotten the signal, begins to walk back to the kitchen while Heejin follows not so far behind.
"Ha... I can't believe the festival got cancelled just like that!" Jinwoo complains, flopping onto the table like a ragdoll due to his disappointment. "I mean, can't they just let it resume once the typhoon is over??"
"Yeah, they could, actually," Heeseung replies as he calmly sips from his drink, "but then that would mean they'd have to push back on valuable educational school days."
"Ugh, this sucks!" Jinwoo groans as he drops his head onto the table, forehead first.
To that, Heeseung sighs, and he places a comforting hand on his younger brother's shoulder. "Well, let's just hope this doesn't happen on sports day, either."
"Hey! Don't jinx it?" Jinwoo suddenly jumps up, causing Heeseung to jump in surprise before he scolds the younger boy.
"Hey, I was trying to comfort you??"
"You're doing a horrible job at it, though?"
"Now that's just rude."
Jinwoo sticks his tongue out at Heeseung, and the latter grunts and frowns at him before he eventually turns to an unusually quiet Heejin.
"..."
"Hey."
"Hmm?" As if snapped out of a trance, Heejin looks up, only to meet her brother's confused gaze.
"Is something the matter...? You seemed pretty out of it since you came down here," Heeseung asks, mildly concerned.
The girl only quickly shakes her head, smiling lightly as she responds. "It's nothing, really. Just... thinking about things."
"And what 'things' might that be?" Heeseung raises a brow.
To that, Heejin gets an idea, and she soon turns to her brother with a mischievous smile. "I'm thinking of getting a boyfriend."
"Hey-?!"
Heejin immediately laughs at her brother's immediate reaction, and Jinwoo quickly joins in as well.
"Seriously, stop with those jokes, will you?" Heeseung complains with a frown in his face.
Jinwoo soon replies, though, and to Heeseung's dismay, the boy ends up defending his sister. "Oh, come on, hyung! You can't seriously expect Heejin to be single all her life, do you?"
"Now that's just very disappointing of you to say."
"Oh, relax, oppa! I'm not planning to get a boyfriend soon, anyway. It was just a joke," Heejin eventually assures Heeseung, to which her older brother only huffs out in response.
"... Well, if that wasn't what you were thinking of, then what exactly was it?"
To that, Heejin suddenly falls silent, and this time, even Jinwoo looks at her in concern.
