"So... Jinwoo finally confessed to you?" Jungwon had asked as soon as he caught up to Sohee while the students were busy packing up and getting their things onto the school bus. The last day of the camping trip had arrived much faster than they had hoped, but oh well, it had to after all. They had to go back to school and continue their education.
"Yeah," Sohee replies eventually, half-cold and half-dazed. She doesn't even look at Jungwon as she loads her bag onto the bus. "I was going to reject him, but Jinwoo told me he'd let me think it over and he'd wait..."
"So you said nothing? You should have just rejected him right then and there then! That'll show him his place- Umph!" Jungwon argues, but he gets cut off when Sohee turns to him before sharply punching his gut. The boy hunches forward in response, placing his hand on the bus to maintain his balance. Still, his frown remains just as stubborn as him as he looks back at Sohee. "Hey, what was that for?!"
Sohee lifts her nose in the air as she looks down at him with a powerful gaze. "I don't remember letting you have any say in my business. We're not friends anymore, aren't we? Especially, not after what you did, letting me get in trouble for something Jihyun started. You think you saving me once was gonna fix that? I definitely don't think so." Sohee huffs one last time at Jungwon before eventually getting on the bus, all the while, Jungwon is still suffering from the pain she had inflicted onto his stomach.
"Ugh, seriously... So that's what it was??"
And then a laugh catches his attention, making him turn just in time to see Riki placing his elbow on his own shoulder. "Ha! Now you know how I feel! But I can definitely say you deserved it more than I deserved any of Sohee's attacks."
"You!" Jungwon scowls as he pulls away from Riki, only the latter also pulls away in time to maintain his balance, and Jungwon instead ends up staggering and then falling to the ground with another grunt.
Riki's not done teasing him just yet, though, as he eventually bends towards him as he continues talking. "And seriously, what made you think Sohee would reject Jinwoo so easily? She obviously likes him, and you obviously never had a chance. I mean, just look at how happy Jinwoo looks right now even though he's just been placed on the waiting list!"
With that, Jungwon furrows his brows as he looks up at Riki, but eventually, he follows the latter's gaze, eventually spotting Jinwoo getting on the other bus with a bright smile on his face and high hopes with every step he took.
"You see that?" Riki asks soon enough. "That's someone who knows his boundaries and knows how to truly care for the people he loves. He understands what Sohee needs and wants, and he trusts her and her judgement... and you should, too, if you still want to reconcile with her."
For a moment, Jungwon keeps quiet, like he's actually thinking about it. A few more seconds later, however, and he suddenly turns and almost kicks at Riki. The latter dodges in time again, but in the time he did, Jungwon had already stood up. Not that he has plans to fight. He's just too stubborn to listen to anything Riki, or anyone for that matter, has to say to him. And so, with his ears and heart closed, Jungwon yells at Riki before getting on the bus. "Shut up! Who are you to tell me what to do?!"
Riki just scoffs in disbelief as he watches Jungwon rush inside the bus, and then he throws his head back as he mutters to himself. "Sheesh! And Heeseung-hyung keeps saying I must be the most immature one in my class!"
He eventually got in, though, and soon enough, the camping trip ended with the Junior Class 3 students leaving the campsite.
Granted, though, it might definitely take some time before Jungwon finally learns and actually does something to fix his mistakes. In the meantime? At least, even though no one can really tell, the boy had gone into self-reflection for the whole bus ride back to the school.
