Well, the rumors ended way too quickly.
It had only been two days since Heejin had been verbal about her thoughts on the rumor. Only two days since she had told Taehyun she'd try to keep it as it is so as to have an excuse to have him around. And yet, only a day after that happened, Heejin suddenly found herself being successfully convinced by her brother to put an end the rumors so as to avoid more complications.
And the only way Heejin thought of to do just that? That is, to cover it up with another rumor.
Eventually, word got around the school that Heejin and Taehyun broke up because "they agreed that they would be better off as friends"; much to Heejin's disappointment... and much to Jay's delight.
"So, you finally decided to put an end to those dating rumors?" Jay asks with a smirk on his face, his expression basically the best he could do to hide his satisfaction as Heejin took her seat beside him. "That's good, then. Then you wouldn't have to keep that kid tailing behind you wherever you go."
Heejin rolls her eyes and sneers at his reaction. And along with that, she further adds more fuel to the fire by correcting him. "He has a name, Jay. And it's 'Taehyun'."
And that, in itself, shocks the boy.
"Excuse me?" Jay asks, a frown immediately forming on his face as soon as Heejin hit him with that response. "I'm sorry, but have you seriously actually gotten close to him? To the point you'd be correcting how I call him?"
Once again, Heejin rolls her eyes, then she turns to Jay, head propped on arm and a thin smile on her face, to correct him once again. "He's your classmate, Jay. You might as well just start treating him like how you treat the others."
"No. No way! How do you even still want to be with him? Isn't he annoying?" Jay asks, in complete disbelief of what he's hearing from his seatmate.
But that very seatmate of his stays true to what she said, and just remains looking at him with her brow raised.
"Wow, you must really like that k- Taehyun, huh?" Jay asks sarcastically, to which Heejin responds by scoffing.
"Well, maybe."
"Hey?!!"
Heejin laughs, and Jay frowns as he watches her. If he didn't have feelings for her, he wouldn't have cared this much. But what was he to do other than just keep asking and pretend like that was just him trying to get into her affairs per usual.
"Ugh, whatever! By the way, do you have any plans this weekend?" Jay asks randomly, causing Heejin to look at him with her brow raised yet again.
"Why? Are you gonna ask me out on a date or something?" she asks in return. And to that, Jay once again takes the chance to flirt with her.
Without any hesitation, the boy leans closer towards her until he were just inches away from her face. A smirk rests on his face, and he looks Heejin straight in the eyes as he asks, "Well, would you like to?"
Heejin, of course as usual, remains unfazed as she just looks back at him. And she remains doing so, without moving or without even tearing her eyes away from her seatmate's, until Jay eventually had to look away himself because of the awkwardness that was starting to settle inside him.
"Hey! At least, say something?!" Jay complains as he moves away, only to get silence as a response once again. He frowns, and he soon groans and rolls his eyes as he looks away from Heejin. And then he looks back at her again a second later. "So can I take that as a 'yes'?"
"No," she replies bluntly this time, and just as she does, the school bell rings, and Heejin turns to preparing her things for her first class.
Jay scoffs as he watches her. Still, as he did, he couldn't help but laugh at himself, in a way. He always tries, but Heejin's responses are always the same to his flirtatious advances.
