It didn't take long before Heejin got to know from her younger brother about Jinhee's tense phone call that day. But by the time she did, this would be the first Jay had ever seen the famed know-it-all definitely not knowing anything at all.
"And who was that supposed to be anyway?!" Heejin exclaims, stressed out as she tries to figure out who Jinhee was talking to on the phone from what Jinwoo had heard.
The younger boy had already gone back to his classroom, though, and that leaves Heejin, Jay, and Taehyun in the SC office, Taehyun working on some papers while Heejin hangs out "to help", and Jay does the same (though his reason would mostly be because of Heejin rather than Taehyun).
"Well, we can always check her records to see who it might be," Taehyun eventually suggests as he starts going through the student records, but Heejin stops him.
"No, we can't do that. I already checked. Jinhee doesn't even have a guardian listed down."
Taehyun furrows his brows in response as he stops searching and looks at Heejin instead. "That can't be true. Isn't it mandatory that students provide the contact information of their guardians?"
"Haven't you been in this school long enough to know that no one really cares?"
Taehyun doesn't get to respond this time, what with how Heejin's words are actually annoyingly true. And he narrows his eyes and lets out a sigh before he ultimately stops searching. "What do you suggest we do about this, then? It's not like you can just spy on Go Jinhee... Why are you smiling like that?"
A frown forms on Taehyun's face when he turns to Heejin and suddenly sees her smiling suspiciously. Not that he doesn't know what that means. And then he turns towards Jay to see that even he seems to understand.
"We're spying on Go Jinhee, aren't we?"
"Wait... 'we'?!" Taehyun quickly asks with a look of disbelief as he shifts his gaze back and forth between Heejin and Jay, and then the latter looks towards him with a frown.
"Not you. You don't know anything about these kinds of things."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Taehyun asks back, before his eyes widen when he quickly realizes. "Wait, you two have done this before already?!"
"How do you think I became a know-it-all?" Heejin then responds with a mischievous smile, to which Taehyun replies with a grimace.
"Isn't that illegal?"
"Aren't we still minors?"
"Juvenile prison exists??"
"What? You think we're gonna let ourselves get caught?" Heejin asks, fully convinced in her ability to hide when spying, which Taehyun unfortunately continues to doubt.
"Isn't that dangerous?!"
And then Jay gets annoyed again. "Don't you have work to do? Just focus on that already instead of questioning what Heejin and I are planning to do."
"And what does that have to do with you?" Taehyun then turns to him with a frown, and then Heejin raises her hands with an annoyed expression of her own.
"Alright, let's stop there! I've already made my decision and none of you," she points at both the boys, "is going to make me change my mind. Jay and I are spying on Go Jinhee."
Jay quietly celebrates at the side in response to that, all while Taehyun glares at him for a second, before he then turns to Heejin with a concerned gaze.
"Hey, it's Go Jinhee, isn't it? It's already dangerous enough that you're planning to go spy on her, but the fact that you barely even know anything about her? What if you get in big trouble?" he asks Heejin with a soft voice.
