Ch. 37: Can I See You?

Well, that was interesting.

And as interesting as it was, somehow it just made Heeseung even more confused. He's wanted to approach Jiwoo, and ask her about the snack bag, but everytime he tries to, either the circumstances don't allow it or he ends up changing his mind midway upon approaching the girl.

"Chicken," Heejin would eventually call him while both of them happened to be in the music room with the rest of the band. She had gone there to bring her brother's lunch and accompany Taehyun at the same time, and after hearing Heeseung's story to Geonu, she would end up wearing an unimpressed expression on her face as she insults the older boy.

"Now, why- Hey!" Heeseung responds with an offended expression to which Heejin only rolls her eyes and groans.

"Ugh, if you like Jiwoo-sunbae, then just say it, already! How long are you gonna keep masking it as just 'concern for a fellow classmate', huh?!"

"I mean, she's got a point," Kai interjects from behind Heeseung. And in return, the older boy groans, as well.

"That's not what this is, alright?" he argues as he turns back to Geonu who he had turned to for advice. Though, truth be told, even Geonu seemed to have the same idea as Heejin and Kai. "Oh, come on! You, too?!"

"What else would it be, then? I mean, judging by how flustered you seem, you clearly like her," Geonu replies, arms folded to show his seriousness. His brows were furrowed, too, and for some reason, that was pretty much enough for Heeseung to back down on his stubborn argument.

He sighs after a while. "Fine. Alright. I like Jiwoo. But what can you possibly expect me to do about it when she already has a boyfriend?"

"Wait, Jiwoo has a boyfriend?!" Beomgyu asks, his eyes wide in genuine surprise. And then Kai replies to him.

"Uh, yeah? Even I knew that?"

"And what business do you two have knowing about Son Jiwoo's lovelife?" Geonu asks them in return, his arms still folded and his brow raised.

Kai and Beomgyu only shrug in return, before they would eventually turn to Heeseung, seemingly waiting for something.

"Well?" Kai asks, and Heeseung wears a clueless look on his face as he turns to him.

"'Well', what?" Heeseung asks.

"I mean, you know you like Jiwoo-sunbae. So are you just gonna leave it be as it is or what?" the younger boy asks, genuine curiosity in his eyes.

Heeseung goes silent all of a sudden, and his eyes fall to the floor. He suddenly starts wondering how he ended up in this situation. He doesn't know what to say, nor does he know how to say it. For a second, he almost forgot why he was in the music room with the band.

That is, until Geonu speaks.

"Guys, let's just start practicing again. The festival is only a week away now so let's do our best and keep going."

Heeseung looks towards Geonu in return, and the latter gives him a subtle nod. And then he quickly switches his energy as he approaches Taehyun and slings an arm onto him.

"Alright, then! Glad to see that you're here early, Taehyun! Finally we can start with all the members!" Geonu exclaims with a smile, before he starts pushing a flabbergasted Taehyun towards the other band members. "Let's start already! Come on!"

Well, while Geonu succeeded in distracting the rest of the band members, truth be told, he really couldn't do anything about Heejin. He knew, though. She would stay stubborn about her take on the issue just like her brother would.
