Cassie caught the carriage to the castle with the twins, completely missing Draco tormenting Harry.
As she stepped into the Castle, all eyes were on here as usual, though this time their eyes were flooded with pity not fear.

Everywhere she turned she was reminded
of him.

Cedric.

Everything felt more real, his death had finally sunk in and it hit hard. She had been avoiding it all summer, pretending it was all a bad dream and that he'd be hear waiting for her, but he wasn't. He was gone, forever.
It felt almost impossible to even sit in the Great Hall, but with Minnies eyes fixed permanently on her it'd be even harder to leave.

The feast was grand, just like it was every year. First years chatted excitedly, in awe of their new surroundings whilst others were in a slightly more somber mood as they all wished Cedric was here.

Not everyone was too welcoming to Harrys presence, after all the Daily Profit had been writing, creative, stories about him all summer.

Dumbledore started his speech as the desserts vanished. Many first years were in awe at the sight of magic.

"Good evening children. Now we have two changes in staff this year. I'm pleased to welcome back Professor Grubbly Plank, who'll be taking care of Magical Creatures whilst Professor Hagrid is on temporary leave. I would also like to welcome our new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Dolores Umbridge."

No one on the staff table looked to please with the new arrival all dressed in pink. If Cassie saw correctly, Minnie was almost rolling her eyes.

"I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing the Professor good luck" Dumbledore continued. "As usual, our caretaker Mr Filch has asked me to remind you—"

A high pitched cough interrupted the headmaster during his speech. Everyone turned to look at the all pink monstrosity in disbelief. No one had ever interrupted the headmaster before.

She rose from her chair slowly, her heels banging against the wooden floor.

"She was at my hearing. She works for Fudge." Cassie heard Harry say as she wasn't sat too far away.

Cassie knew her arrival meant nothing good. Anyone from the Ministry were trouble, especially if they worked closely with Fudge.
As she took to the stand, everyone listened purely out of curiosity not respect.

"Thank you, Headmaster for those kind words of welcome. And how lovely, to see all your bright, happy faces smiling up at me. I'm sure we're all going to be very good friends."

"That's likely." the twins and Cassie smirked.

The three of them would definitely give her a warm welcome.

"The Ministry of Magic has always considered the education of young Witches and Wizards to be of vital importance. Although each Headmaster has brought something new to this historic school, progress for the sake of progress must be discouraged. Let us preserve what must be preserved, perfect what can be perfected and prune practices that ought to be prohibited." Umbridge laughed, though nothing she said amused anybody else.

"Thank you Professor Umbridge. That really was most illuminating." Dumbledore smiled.

Dumbledore was the only one in the room who found her speech 'illuminating'.
The great Hall was quickly emptied, the children returning to the common rooms. Many of the first years were lost, understandably, yet Cassie made sure she laughed at each and everyone of them.
