The quartet were on their way to see Hagrid, apparently too early according to Cassie who was still half asleep being dragged along by Harry.

"Beautiful day." Hermione said.

"Gorgeous, unless of course you've been ripped to pieces." Ron answered shortly.

"Ripped to pieces? What are you talking about" Harry asked confused.

"Have you been killing people without me?" Cassie asked, clearly hurt.

"No of course not Cassie! Ronald has lost his rat." Hermione explained.

"I haven't lost anything! Your cat killed him." Ron argued.

"Rubbish." Hermione scoffed.

"Oh so Crookshanks has been doing the killing?" Cassie asked, confused as to what had been happening whilst she was avoiding Harry.

The three had already told her about Buckbeaks trial, which she was furious about as it had been Draco's daft fault to begin with and the firebolt Harry had gotten for Christmas.

"No ones been killing anyone Cass, and you won't be killing anyone either." Harry said sternly as Cass was quite capable doing anything she pleases.

"Bell end." Cass muttered at Harry.

"Gobby cow." Harry said back.

Cassie stopped dead in her tracks.

"You're gonna pay for that one." Cassie said threateningly.

"Harry, you've seen the way that blood thirsty beast of hers is always lurking about. Scabbers is gone!" Ron bawled.

"Maybe you should learn to take better care of your pets!" Hermione shouted.

"Your cat killed him!"

"Did not!"

"Did!"

"Didn't!"

"Never really liked that rat anyway, always seemed a bit ratty and weird." Cass told Harry.

"He's a rat Cass, of course he's gonna seem ratty." Harry laughed.

They found Hagrid, knees deep into the Black lake, but if they were to join him they'd be more like neck deep.

"How'd it go Hagrid, the hearing?" Hermione asked.

"Well, firs' off, the committee members took turns talkin' 'bout why we were there." Hagrid began to explain whilst skimming another rock across the lake. "An' then I got up an' did my piece, said how Buckbeak was a good Hippogriff, always cleaned his feathers. An' then Lucius Malfoy got up, well you can imagine what he said, 'Buckbeak was a deadly and dangerous creature who'd kill you as soon as you look at him."
