"Have you ever killed someone." Cassie hummed, asking James as she layed across a table.
"I would like to think not." James answered carefully whilst making tea, cautious not to lie.
"Think you would know if you killed someone James." Cassie eyed.
"During the first war, when I was an Auror, I might have done. Everything was a bit of a mess, no one knew what they should have been doing. It was all a bit frantic." he replied, placing a cup of tea near Cassie.
"Strangely, I think i've always been destined to kill people." Cassie scoffed, "Sadistic right?"
"Why do you say that Cass?" James replied quickly.
"For most of my life, I believed Dad killed 12 people. A shrink would have fun unpicking all of that." she laughed quietly. "I suppose it's always been in the back of my mind. Every time I use my magic, somebody dies. In Blackpool, with Effie, I was almost happy that she was being a cunt to
me, would've given me a reason to you know..." Cassie eluded. "and just then with Draco, I saw him raise his wand yet I carried on at him hoping he would throw the first spell. As if that would justify me killing him."
Silence filled the room, as they both didn't know what to say next.
If Draco had used a spell, Cassie truly did not know how far she would go.
It was entirely possible she would have killed her own cousin, right here at Hogwarts.
"Have you ever used your magic, for something different?" James asked. "Something aside from fighting, or when your upset, or when you want something?"
"Don't know." Cassie shrugged, unable to think of a time. "There's not much of a reason to use it otherwise."
"Then let's try it!" he announced, clearing some space on his desk. "Magic is well, magical i suppose, and you have the capability to do anything Cass. Go on, give it a try. My classroom could use some flowers."
Cassie was still skeptical, James had the craziest of ideas at times.
She wasn't sure how some flowers could fix years of death.
Cassie concentrated, putting in as much effort as she could muster for James.
"flores creare"
A beautiful bouquet of flowers appeared in the center of James' desk, the vibrant colours bouncing off of each other.
"Wow." was all James could say, his eyes glued to the roses, separated by a single Lily amongst them.
His face soon changed as the colours began to dull. The petals withered quickly, drooping to the sides. A once beautiful bouquet was now a miserable mess.
"Even they died too." Cassie scoffed. "What a shock."
The two were interrupted from their not so eye opening moment as Harry knocked on the door.
"Sorry," Harry apologized walking in. "Professor McGonagall wants us back in Gryffindor tower, it's nearly curfew."
Cassie silently thanked Harry, who had undoubtedly saved her from whatever James could've said next about the situation.
"Later Prongs." Cassie said hopping off of the desk. "Promise I won't kill anything else tonight!"
She quickly made her exit, leaving both Potters in shock before Harry swiftly followed.
