Harry wasn't pleasant to be around that night, something the common room door knew all too well as he slammed it upon his arrival back to Hogwarts.
It was a miracle it did not fall off of its hinges.
How could Cassie be so calm being in the same room as he was, when he was seconds away from exploding that entire lesson.
He paced the common room, then the boys dormitory and then paced the common room once again before leaving.
The fat lady shrieked as he slammed the portrait once again.
Harry wasn't sure where his own feet were taking him, or what he had even planned to do when he decided to leave.
He wandered the castle aimlessly, subconsciously seeking out Cassie.
"Oh really?" someone laughed.
Harry would've recognized that laugh anywhere. It was Cassie.
Harry stopped dead in his tracks, peering around the corner.
There was Cassie, outside Professor Snape's office talking to someone he had never even seen before.
He must have been in another year.
"We'll see." Cassie replied to the boy, as Snapes office opened and she disappeared into it.
Harry was furious. The way she spoke to the mystery boy, and even worse the way she looked at him sent chills down his spine.
Was this really what Cassie wanted? Anyone other than me? Harry thought as he stormed off.
"Miss Black." Snape muttered, unsure as to why the girl was stood in his office.
"Lovely to see you too Snape." Cassie offered back in the same tone.
"Is there a reason you are here? Or have you just come to be a nuisance. If the latter, you can turn back around." Snape grumbled, looking up at the girl taking in her appearance.
Despite looking considerably better than when she was found, Snape wasn't impressed with the healing process.
"Does your father not listen to anybody." He tutted, standing up and approaching Cassie. "He was under strict orders on how to treat you, and it looks like he hasn't followed a single one."
"Watch yourself Snivellus." Cassie hissed taking a step back. "I was almost going to be civil with you. Your fancy potions don't work."
As much as she despised the man, she knew he would be able to help.
Many of her wounds from being tortured still hadn't healed, especially the effects of the curses used on her.
Of course if someone such as her father knew this, he would've done everything to help.
Cassie purposely hasn't told him.
The man worries too much as it is.
"What do you mean don't work?" Snape asked in disbelief.
"They don't work." Cassie repeated dumbly. "The cuts won't heal, or if they do they just rip back open. Everything fucking hurts, all of the time. I'm no better off than when you found me."
"Probably because you're skin and bone." Snape muttered as he rummaged through cupboards.
"You try having an appetite after seeing what i've seen." Cassie argued.
As she turned to leave, she was pulled back by Snape as he grabbed an arm and hovered it over a cauldron.
Cassie was met with a sharp scratch, as she saw drops of her blood drop below.
"Ah you bastard." Cassie winced as she was let free again.
She watched as the cauldron turned a deep shade of Black, Snapes face reflecting in it.
"Dark, dark magic." Snape muttered, grabbing several vials. "Nightmares? Headaches?" he asked.
"Why?" Cassie argued, unhappy with Snapes curiosity.
"It's not a difficult question Black. You came for help, do you want it or not?"
"Yes. Both." Cassie begrudgingly said, replying to his previous question.
"It's your blood." he stated. "Whatever spell, curse or hex used is still in your blood. That's why you're not healing."
Snape rummaged through further cupboards, as he explained.
"It's a miracle you're still alive, the pain should be debilitating."
"Doesn't bother me." Cassie shrugged, lying. It consumed every thought.
"That is what will get you killed." Snape hissed as he pushed potions into her hands. "You are not invincible. You're just as cocky as your father. Drink."
"I don't know." Cassie teased. "Should I really be trusting to drink anything you've made."
"I saved your life once already Black. I'm sick of having to do it."
"No body asked you to." Cassie grunted, forcing the potion down, grimacing at the taste.
"Somebody had to, it certainly wouldn't have been your father." Snape hissed.
"Well, this has been charming as ever." Cassie said, holding back what she wanted to say.
"Was there anything else?" Snape demanded. "No? Then leave."
Cassie obliged and left. Picking a fight with Snape could be left to another day.
As she walked back to James office, a certain pair of eyes caught her attention.
Harry stood, talking intimately with a girl she didn't seem to recognize.
They were stood too close, he seemed to interested.
Her blood boiled as she walked past.
"I wouldn't bother if i was you chick," Cassie said to the girl, "he's too clingy."
"Piss off Black." Harry said shaking his head. "Shouldn't you be under someone else by now?"
Cassie was almost taken back. Unprepared for a response like that from Harry.
After all, could she blame him after everything she has said.
"Would definitely be worth more of my time." Cassie scoffed, looking Harry up and down before she left to use the floo network.
When Cassie got home, Sirius and Remus could all sense the shift in mood.
Their repeated attempts at talking with the girl was met with a raised voice or a slammed door.
The two men were unsure of what could have possibly happened, as their worries increased.
The last thing either of them wanted was a repeat of the past.
