It had just been over a week since Cassie was dragged back to 12 Grimmauld Place and she was hating it.
She tried to avoid all contact with Sirius, anytime the two were stuck in a room together Cassie would either glare or fill the silence with sarcastic remarks. After the snake incident, no wands were even left in the vicinity of Cassie much to her disappointment.
Harry had tried to talk to her on countless occasions, but Cassie shut him down each time.
At first she would just walk away and ignore him, but as he got more and more persistent, Cassie got more and more furious.
Harry had only just stopped trying to corner her after she threatened to slit his throat open.
That didn't go down well with Dumbledore.
Hermione and Ron both seemed too scared to even try and approach her after that. The twins were persistent with Cassie, constantly trying to rope her in some sort of prank, though failing most of the time.
Cassie kept herself barricaded in Regulus' room. It wasn't as bad as it sounded, with a bag full of alcohol, cigarettes and many other things her father would disapprove of Cassie was having a great time.
Effie and Cassie were smart, they casted a refilling charm on all of the alcohol before they were caught.
It was a much easier way of getting drunk without constant having to spend money.
Much to her surprise, Regulus had a record player. She would've assumed that Walburgas 'golden child' wouldn't have a muggles creation in his room.Even when she was young, Walburga always used to drone on about how Regulus always had the correct beliefs and that he followed in the right footsteps of the Dark Lord.
With knowing that, the muggle records which accompanied the record player seemed out of place. The music was questionable, mostly The Rolling Stones and Queen, but it wasn't the worst.
Usually half way through a bottle of vodka it became enjoyable.Cassie knew all about Harry, the Dementors and his hearing this morning at the Ministry.
It had been all anyone was talking about, when they wasn't talking about her.Truthfully, she couldn't care less about the outcome of it.
Harry and Mr Weasley had left 12 Grimmauld Place early, Cassie could hear Sirius in dog form begging to go with them.
Even the mere thought of her father made her feel sick.He might've been falsely convicted of murdering countless muggles, but he was clearly guilty of being a shitty father.
Once again, her day was filled with nothing.
Even with Harry gone, that wasn't enough to tempt her to go downstairs.
She very rarely spent anytime out of Regulus' room unless she absolutely had to.
Everywhere she went, eyes followed her. People constantly watching her next move carefully as if she was fragile. They were always wondering what would tip her over
the edge.Would Cedrics death finally send her into a downwards spiral? Or would she have another fight with Harry?
Would the study set her off?If any of those things don't set her off, their constant staring would.
Ever since the first night, Cassie had avoided even thinking about the study.
The unfortunate times she had to spend in the kitchen, she made sure she looked nowhere in that direction. She missed Effie deeply. Effie understood everything about Cassie. They spent as much time together as possible. In the Girls Home, at Hogwarts and anywhere in between.
But now, Effie would likely return to Beauxbatons for the next school year whilst Cassie gets shipped back off to Hogwarts.
In the summer, Effie would presumably be going to the Girls Home whilst Cassie would be thrown back into 12 Grimmauld Place again.
The summer of '94 might've been the last time the two saw each other.
