Cassie changed after the 'fight' with Harry. She had gone back to default settings so to say. The Black default settings. Cold, heartless bitch. She felt as if she had lost everything by losing Harry.
Them three words Harry said rang around her mind tormenting her constantly. It was all she could think about, so she stopped thinking. She let herself overthink that much, she entered a state of almost having no thoughts. It's almost as if she thought about everything so much, that there's now nothing to think about which left her feeling empty.
She felt isolated and alone despite being surrounded by multiple people.
Her smoking increased as it was one of the only things she could feel. The way the toxins intoxicated her lungs left her feeling wickedly satisfied. She knew it was wrong, but was past the point of caring.
She never truly realized how much Harry had meant to her, and how much his opinion and words affected her.
Harry regretted what he said instantly. He didn't mean to take his anger out on her, it wasn't her fault. She didn't betray his parents, her father did. He was furious in the moment with what he had just found out, and blamed it on Cass as she was the closest thing to Sirius Black.
Cass had nothing to do with what happened in Godrics Hollow all them years ago, yet she somehow convinced herself that it was her fault, that she caused it all. It was completely irrational yet made complete sense to her.
Christmas for the four of them was excruciatingly awkward. They had all stayed at Hogwarts meaning there was no escape.
Cass talked to Hermione occasionally as it was hard to avoid her completely when they were in the dorms together.
Harry had tried on multiple occasions to get Cassie alone so they could talk, but failed each time.
Cassie even grew closer to Draco, much to her surprise. They were more alike then they thought. Originally they both believed that the only similarities they had were the fact they shared the same blood, but it was more than that. Cass understood why Draco acted the way he did, it was all he had been taught to do. Perhaps if Walburga didn't pass away, and had raised Cassie for much longer, she would've turned out the same way.
Cass and Draco could often be found hidden in the shadows together past curfew enjoying the peace they gave eachother. When Draco was with Cassie he didn't have to live up to the 'perfect pure blood' reputation his father had set for him and Cassie didn't have to worry about the animosity Harry felt towards her, though there was no real animosity, Cass was imagining it. She'd convinced herself that Harry deeply hated her, after all he did say he did.
