Cassie had been dreading this day for weeks.
Dumbledore wanted her back at Hogwarts after the Christmas break, and that day came all too quickly.

The atmosphere in the Black house was tense, even more so now than it had been the entire week.

Cassie's trunk was packed (Moony's doing as it would never have gotten done otherwise) and Sirius was attempting to coax her to the train station.

"Cassie, the train leaves in less than half an hour." Sirius pleaded.

"Go to London and say bye to Harry then because i'm not going!" Cassie shouted back.

They had been having a similar argument all week. Nothing Sirius could say or do would convince Cassie to go back to Hogwarts, and he didn't know why.

"You have to go Cassie! Please, at least tell me why you won't go?"

"There's no fucking point! I failed my O.W.L.S, missed half of my N.E.W.T.S classes and there's nothing even worth sitting through a class for. Dumbledore only wants me there so I can be his little protected puppet!" Cassie screamed, partly because she was three floors above Sirius.

Her reasons were half of the truth.
She truly did not like the idea of being Dumbledores puppet.
So close to him whilst at Hogwarts means she is practically in his grasp and he is already pulling the strings.
Sitting through hours of classes each day didn't exactly fill her with joy either, however there was much more to it.

The thing stopping her the most was being around so many witches and wizards.
Hundreds of wands, spells and even the robes reminded her of the 6 months she spent at Malfoy Manor.
The six months which she remembered all too well.
And how was she supposed to walk into Hogwarts when everyone there knew Voldemort had taken her captive, and likely believed she was dead?

It sounded stupid enough in her head, nevermind saying it out loud to her dad.

"Don't be silly! Dumbledore only wants to protect you. I'm not too fond about letting you out of my sight, but Hogwarts is the safest place for you."

Cassie scoffed loudly, it wouldn't surprise her if Sirius heard it from below.
Hogwarts was hardly the safest place for her.
Voldemort had found a way to infiltrate the Castle each year, this year would not be any different.

"I'm not going. Stop wasting your breath and piss off." Cassie finalized, climbing back into the bed she hadn't left in awhile.

For a brief moment Cassie believed her father had taken the hint and left her alone, until her bedroom door swung open.

"I thought I told you to piss off—" Cassie said as she tossed to face the door. "James?"

"Is something dead in here?" James gagged as he swiftly moved to open the curtains and a window or three. "Come on, out of bed. You're making me late!" he smiled.

"Late?" Just because you died and came back alive doesn't mean you have to go through school again James." Cassie sighed, climbing further underneath her duvet.

"As much as I enjoyed school," James laughed, "I don't have enough pranks to repeat anymore. Dumbledore offered me a job, quickly up and ready!"

Cassie's mind was doing flips.
James' cheery voice at this time in a morning was enough to make her dizzy, a job at Hogwarts on top of that was enough to send her falling out of bed.
